I've never found a way to get around the one way fee and goodness knows I've tried:(.
Also I should point out that the longer it takes for you to make up your mind the harder it WILL be to find a larger RV; August is high season and few vehicles are around for long time frames between now and then.

If I might suggest? Look at renting a large, 15 passenger van? Lots of room..and camp all the way. You are in summer so weather should be in your favour. You could get 2 or 3- 2/3 person tents, couple coolers, clothing bags, etc and have a blast.
