SACRIFICIAL ANODE, other than the hot water heater ?

Most RVer's know about making periodical checks of the Hot Water heater's sacrificial anode. Yet, I have talked with some that have additional anode's that they have little familiarity with. Here is the link to the story with photo's and locations.

Mine only last about half that time before scaling takes them out :(. I don't have to worry about the anode.

Not I. I understand how a zinc works on a boat. It is useless without water. How it can work in the air is beyond me.

Yeah, an anode is pretty much useless without an electrolyte. And air is useless as an electrolyte.

It generally gets replaced with installation of the new water heater. You know, the old that began to leak!:)

I am very familiar with electrolysys having been a saltwater boater since 1982 with boats kept inwater. Zincs/anodes on landbound vehicles? New one for me.

I suppose if you wanted to provide a good bond between aluminium house frame & vehicle frame that could be done with a dedicated bonding strap easily accessible for cleaning. I do check the waterheater anode annually.

If you are going to put an anode on the frame be sure there is no paint under the anode for a proper bond.

Sacrificial anodes are common for boaters, especially if you boat in salt water. An outdrive or metal hull is an expensive proposition to replace or repair.

Many don't think about the anode in the house water heater.
