The last two site we pulled in to (Oregon State Parks) were covered in chalk drawings, art, graffiti?? It was all over the parking pad and out into the street that services the loop.

Am I just a grumpy guy or is anyone else kind of bothered by this...?
I do know that there are a lot of bigger things to get grumpy about, but....

I'm okay with sidewalk chalk. I'm one of those who stops to see what was drawn.

I am trying to not laugh out loud at some of these responses. DW is still sleeping! Beemerphile1 and fj12ryder, you two are making it hard to keep quiet.

I personally would look at it before I backed over it, and be glad that the future artists (not future convicts) had fun outdoors.

I am one of those that likes listening to kids having fun.

Appointing yourself a moderator?

I vote for keeping it going..........its the most entertaining read on here in quite awhile.

Ever had the "talk" with your veterinarian? The one where he gives you the sad face and says, "Rover had a pretty good life, but it's time. He really needs to be put out of his misery, and it just isn't fair to anybody to let him go on like this". Every wonder if the same rules should apply to miserable old cranks? Ever wonder if crabby complaining about children harmlessly enjoying themselves, should be listed in the medical literature in the "when is it time to put your grumpy old curmudgeon down?" section?

If you are that miserable that you are horrified that children are harmlessly enjoying themselves, it's time to stay home and limit your misery to the four walls of the room you are in. Stop spreading your disease.

Has it really come down to this? Are we getting that easily offended by some children enjoying camping and have some harmless fun. you should all look into the mirror and realise that you have become "that guy"! you remember him/her from when you were a child, don't you? lighten up and enjoy the things that are done in the frivolous times of youth.
When I was 12 years old I got a paper route. Every morning I got up at 4am to deliver the paper 7 days a week. I had (that guy) on the paper route. Even at 12 years old I wondered what had happened to him in life to make him so bitter.

I'm beginning to think some people enjoy being miserable and aren't happy until those around them are as miserable as they are.

Couldn't agree more strongly. And I will point out it isn't we, it's just some of them. Chalk art to tagging and then straight to prison. Save the children, outlaw fun.

I will admit our grandkids use the sidewalk chalk quite often when we camp at parks with paved spots. And usually other kids join in. And more than once the park rangers even give advice and comments on the drawings.

It's interesting to see the creativity based on what they have been doing at the campground. Heck, they have even made hopscotch game and end up with others joining in.

Oh, and our kids did the same thing. I would have but all we had was thi white chalk and gravel campgrounds. Not a good combo.

As long as they do it in our spot not an issue IMHO. And when we have had sites with drawing in them, we usually take a look, see the creativity of kids, then park.

The ONE rule we enforce is NO sidewalk chalk in any roadway for safety.

we do a quick sweep before we leave. Doesn't necessarily get rid of all the art, but gets rid of the dust.

I've been to parks that have stopped the kids. Afraid that kids playing on/In the road, won't be seen.
