Some people really need a lesson on how to close a door quietly. During the daytime I don't care, but at 5:00 am, come on people. If you want to get on the road that early fine, but please be respectful of your neighbors and at least TRY to close your doors quietly. I'm not talking just about a car/rig door, but the basement doors as well. Morning rant over now. Thank you.

That bothers me a lot less than the person with the diesel truck perpetually idling.

A couple of weeks ago there was a really bad offender near us. He figured EVERYBODY wanted to hear his Duramax for 40 minutes while he went through his departure evolution. He was a long haul trucker in real life and made sure to let the neighbors know.

I go camping to relax. I don't/won't let anything as trivial as a door slamming effect my attitude or my psyche.
Practice relaxing and don't sweat the small stuff.
There are plenty of things in life to cause anxiety and anger Slam Bang or closing doors is not even on the list.

Some folks just seem to have to slam doors and dogs seem to have to bark, Not a lot you can do about either.... I spent many years trying to change a couple of bad habits (Like overloading a cloths dryer and door slaming) to no avial.

Oh well, My problem has been solved.. Kind of which it had not been but that's a topic (Already covered) in another thread.

One thing you can do is this.. Fire up your air conditioner, If you do not need COOL or have limited 120vac, use FAN mode and put it on high.

This will mask much of the noise coming from outside the RV. Not completly hide it and things like a barking dog will still get through.. Just not as loud. the noise of the A/C will quickly be flitered by most minds so you do not get bothered by it.

This does have a downside though... I often can no longer hear mine unless I specifically go to the room the A/C is in and listen for it.. My mind is "Blocking" the sound of the blower .

NOTE: This is also the answer for those who complain about how LOUD the A/C is. if you run the fan on HIGH (not AUTO) you quickly block the sound mentally.

How quickly.... Depends on how good you are mentally (Now least you think I'm bragging, I've lived in this motor home over 4 years. I would hope none of you need 4 years (I did not originally, but the longer I live here the quieter that blower gets).

White noise tricks! Yea, inhave been forced to resort to these. There is also a thunderstorm ap for iPhones that work pretty good.

...still a shame tho,,that we have to resort to this.

The only thing that gets to me is the horn chirp when people lock their cars. This is programable by the owner, I guess they think it's a status symbol or something. The really dumb ones manage to set the alarm off.

I am quiet and avoid making noise but I can sleep through anything. I park at rest stops and wake up in the morning to discover two big rigs parked on each side of me with their diesels running all night. On my way up to NY it was raining hard and visibility was poor. I pulled into whites truck stop in VA which had a huge parking lot filled with trucks and there was also an adjoining parking lot that was even larger than the main lot and it was almost empty. I pulled in to take a nap while I waited for the rain to stop (all slides were in and it is a good thing they were because Improbably would have ticked off some big rig drivers for taking up extra room). I slept right thru the night and when I woke up the next morning the lot was filled with about 100 tractor trailers all of which were running their engines all night. The two rigs parked next to me were only about 2 or 3 feet away on each side with the diesel right next to my bedroom and I never heard a thing till the light from the rising sun woke me up.

Noise does not bother me but people cussin especially if there are children around is totally unacceptable.

I don't think it's people being rude or uncaring. It's jsut habit. I don't close my door "quietly" at home, at work, or at the supermarket; nor do i speak in a whisper.

I try to remember to act differently when I am parked next to a vehicle that has tissue paper thin walls and open windows, but Im not 100%. And when I hear a sound that is not harmonious with silence, I let it go. If you worry about these things I can't even imagine that you are enjoyin the experinece of camping. Maybe think about getting a differt hobby......:h

I am fulltiming and absolutely love the life, all I'm saying is during what most people consider late night/very early morning maybe some people could try/attempt to be a little more considerate of the people around them. I also do not sit around worrying about this stuff; however, sometimes my insomnia gets the best of me and I can get a little cranky in the early morning after only a couple hours sleep.

Had something similar happen in Colorado. I was to the right of a Airstream another camper pulled in on the left late at night and made a lot of noise that woke up the Airstream people and woke up me. The next morning the Airstream people were up early making as much noise as they could. So I had to deal with rude people late at night and early in the morning.

I would have to disagree with part of this. I do enjoy camping and noises do not typically bother me BUT there is a difference in a slight noise and people talking louder than even a normal tone at 3 or 4 in the morning right next to your window. A little bit of respect for your fellow neighbor will go a long way in a campground. I believe this is one of the reasons generators are not allowed at night. We don't go to bed early or get up late so any normal noises at night or in the morning usually don't bother us at all. It's the middle of the night startling voices or slamming of things that I feel are rude. Everyone goes on vacation to have a good time but no one wants to be woke up or kept awake in the middle of what most people consider night.

Okay, what ever you think is fair. Have fub.
