Switch to houseboat?

Has anyone ever considered switching to a houseboat? I'm getting tired of these 50 buck a night campground fees. Everyplace we go there's a nice lake to stay on free. W'd stay for a month or so. I'd have to pay for pump outs, maybe a launch fee or two, run a generator some but other than that, why not???? Once I sold the class A and put that down on the boat, the savings in CG fees would pay for the boat wouldn't it?

Interesting thought. I wonder if you're comparing apples to oranges though. I'm guessing $50 a night is partial if not full hookup, compared to house boat with a generator which is basically akin to boondocking. I would compare the price of a boondocking site to the houseboat fees and see if the cost adds up the same.

50 buck a night campground fees

I go to State/Federal campgrounds and pay as little as $14/night
to a max of $37/night. Sometimes I have elec other times not.

But a house boat? we lived on a house boat for 1 summer and it
was "different" but glad to get back on land. The house boat was
moored in the middle of the lake, so we had to row to/from shore.

I was young then not sure I could do it now.
