Tire Replacement

1. After reading the tire issues with the Goodyear Marathons I decided to check the tires on my 5th wheel Montana. I have the Goodyear Marathons, size ST 235 80 R16E, on my RV. The tires have good tread on them, but the manufacture date is 16/08. Which, I believe means they were manufactured around the middle of April 2008. Also stamped on the tires is manufactured in China. Should I be concerned about the tires and replace them? Just for my curiosity, I obtained a replacement cost for Maxxis ST 235 80R16E today. Thank you for the input and I await your replies..

and if you travel long distances and I see you have a fairly heavy Montana, a lot of folks and myself have replaced with 14 ply tire such as the Goodyear 614 or the Geostar 574, kinda spendy but when you blow a tire and tear up the skirting, then you wished you would of changed them out...just my 2 cents worth...

OPer would have to upgrade the wheels to install a tire rated to 3750 and 110 inflation. Chris

So your trailer has a GVWR of 14000 pounds, what is the GAWR? If it has 6K axles, which I believe it does, I would be installed Michelin XPS RIBs or Bridgestone Duravis R250 to put tire problems behind you!

Go over to the Montana Owners Forum and learn what others have found to be the best solution for that trailer.

Get the junk china bombs off and install a decent quality Lt tire and go camping.

It is recommended to change out ST tires every three years.
