Tire/wheel change on the road

Acme Tools, has this M-18 FUELโ„ข & M12 FUELโ„ข Mid-Torque & Ratchet Combo Kit for $379. Seems like a really good price, question is would this impact driver be a good choice to carry for my truck (3500) and travel trailer. Last time I had a flat I couldnโ€™t break the lug nuts loose.

I have a SnapOn 1/2" impact onboard (not sure why) and an EmGlo 2hp Air compressor that would bust the nuts loose. But the fact is I can have the nuts loose faster with my breaker bar without having to fire off the gen and pull out a hole and impact plus wait for it to pressurize. Have not felt the need to have more than a 20V deWalt impact for general use on the road. At home I have a 80 Gallon 7hp compressor I do use my air tools with.

But then there are "ManlyMen" and ......... :B

With my 6 point system, and my Milwaukee 18v 3/4" drive with 1200 - 1500 # of fastening torque I'm all set !

I remove them with that, and use my torque wrench to re install

And before that for me it was a 20 ton hydraulic jack , breaker bar, socket, and torque wrench .
Did it on the side of the road between Las Vegas and Kingman ,Az. Flat tire on the fifth wheel, not a problem.

It was the year I had 3 blowouts on the same trip that convinced me to invest in a good battery powered impact gun, with a 20T hydraulic bottle jack.... then the 6 point followed a year or 2 later:-)

What are we on now, nine pages already?

Just how many RV.NETers does it take to change a tire?

One to dial Coachnet and wait for the tire to be changed.

Well at 70 I am still able to change a tire on both the trailer and 3500 DRW, I not waiting for up to hours for a service person to arrive.

Got you beat at 73, not waiting for someone to change anything for me, not yet anyway. Its going to be awhile as far as I can tell ๐Ÿ™‚

What's your Plan B when there's nobody available? It can happen.

Yes the point is if you set it to 250 and turn left it will not be out of calibration for loosening a 150# lug.
Same for going some past the click is not going to hurt the calibration as Dtank would have you believe.

Going beyond the click on a torque wrench is not a good idea, that's why it clicks. A little bit probably won't hurt, but a lot can't be a good practice to get into.

Proto is good stuff, take care of it and it will last. If it's rated to torque left hand thread, and it doesn't click, then something has broken. That may affect the right hand thread torque, but I don't know.
