update....A note about fridge 'boards'.

I have a 99 RV with a NORCOLD unit and had to order a new board. The new board came as a 'kit'..two boards..the power board and a new brow..the one that has the buttons on the front. Good thing, too. The new power board does NOT talk to the old. So..if you are looking at board issues, consider replacing both.

Please note..I was in error..it is a NORCOLD....

After fetching the kit and having it installed...the problem still existed. Two or three says of fridge service then a shut-down. I would eventually get a re-set, after inumerbale pushes of the on/off button. I went back to the shop that installed the boards and asked them to take another look-see. This time, the tech got down on his knees and looked at the thermistor wiring..and there we had it. It was all corroded and burnt. It would find contact for a couple days then a wriggle..and bingo..shut-down. replaced the harness and actual clippy thing....working like it is supposed to.

And yes, in truth, the answer was there for the looking. The code started coming up...error #4. That is high voltage. The thermistor has a fail-safe lockout that shuts down the fridge if that fails.

I ran into the same thing years back. You 'have' to buy the 2 new boards. Dinosaur boards will not work.

Ya it wasn't cheap but it sure was a whole lot less than replacing the fridge.

Did you notice the new boards gave you a 2-way instead of the 3-way it originally was?

Just like the new ones the 3-way with battery option has gone by the wayside.

Yes, I only have two way now, but on the phone they said that they screwed up and should have sent the three way board. They wanted me to un-install the new, mail it back, then they would send the proper 3 way. As I live up north in BC, I said that no, I wasn't going to do that. And really, it made no sense..who uses DC aayway?

It was $299 for the 'kit'. Here in BC, that power board alone is most of $400.00. The kit is likley the first born.

Was the kit from Norcold or Dinosaur?
What was model of refer or number off original control board?

Bought from Norcoldparts.com

I don't think you need my serial number...you'd need your own.

Was this a Dometic kit?
Maybe a Dinosaur board would have been better?

In fact, I had ordered and installed a Dinasaur board and it wouldn't work. The Dinasaur tech said that theirs was a 'smart' board and if there were any glitches, it wouldn't function.

The 'kit' was the answer.

I need to thank you..I was re-reading your note and realized I had errored and said Dometic when it is a NORCOLD.
