USA RV maps

I see all Rvs with the US map on them and the states that have been visited. We are having a family debate about our RV map and are seeking ideas from more experienced travelers.

The wife says we have to see most of a state before we can place the state sticker on our map. We recently made a 3 week trip up the east side of Wisconsin and down the west side of Michigan. No stickers since we didnโ€™t see most of the state. I say it has to be a destination and staying 2 nights at the campground. My feeling is just because you have the state sticker doesnโ€™t mean that you canโ€™t go back to that state.

What are some of the ideas out there used for placing the sticker on your US RV map? And I do understand that life is much easier if I just agreed with her, so donโ€™t tell her I asked anybody.

I don't have a map on my rig. Only the one in my signature. And I quit doing that when I got tired of having to start over each time with a blank map. But I've been through but not necessarily stayed overnight in all the states but Washington and Oregon.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

My wife and I agreed that the map has nothing to do with the RV, it shows the places we visited, or lived in, together. Not just passing through, had to stop, see something, or stay overnight. After she died, I added some places I've been without her along. If I went first, she would have added her places.

You work it out with your wife. If you can't work it out, my advice is do it her way.

If she knows what she wants the map to mean, what anybody else does probably won't help you change her mind. Our map was there because my wife wanted it, and it wouldn't leave a different color underneath, I'd maybe pull it off.

I do have a map, but concur with your standard. Of course, about the only state I have on my map that I haven't at least stayed the night in is West Virginia. I've only passed through it.

I didn't put my map on the skin of my trailer. I bought a large cheap picture frame, and put the map outline on the picture frame glass. This way I can display it if I want, or just stow it away, if I want.

We never did the 'sticker' thing but in 16 years of full-timing and traveling constantly we still didn't see most of every state. :W

Going up one side of a state and down another side of a state is experiencing the state and deserves a sticker. That's a lot more intense than some folks that might drive 10 miles into the state, turn around and never stop.

I definitely think you both need the maps and see how long she takes to fill in a state. :B

the map on our popup has states filled in where we have vacationed not necessarily where we have camped. And those are only the states my wife and I have been to. If we used the states I've been to it would be all filled in as would most of a map of Europe and Canada. I no longer do the road warrior stuff for work. Some days I miss it but seeing only the airport and inside of the customers office gets old.

I worded my first sentence wrong, I should have said a lot of RVs with the maps and I never said "all" of a state. Just most of it. I have enjoyed and and laughed at a few comments. I think I can talk her into a destination within the state gets the sticker. Thanks so much for the responses.

I think your wife's map will be empty for a very long time. Get one for yourself and fill it as YOU like

Not true bluegrass boy, we don't have one, had one, got rid of it, mine is in my signature below, any state we camped overnight in this RV gets colored in, but as already stated, Your map, your rules, if wife doesn't like it, get 2 maps.
I seriously doubt if everyone here has seen "ALL" of any state.

I don't have a map. I can remember where I have been and don't need a map to try and impress anyone.
Have Fiver will travel with little or no notice at all. I do need to stop at rest areas now and then:)

It's your sticker - do what ever the heck you want to do.

Or rather, what ever the wife wants to do, since her losing an argument usually makes your life uncomfortable for a while.

I've been from Texarkana to Carlsbad. From Big Bend to Brownsville to Beaumont to Amarillo. In 30 years, I haven't seen 'most' of Texas.

Ours shows every state we've spent at least one night in THIS rig. 29 so far.
