Use of Orange/Yellow cones is a must!

Bought a great product on amazon.  A lighted "orange reflective expandable cone"!  48 inchs high! We have discussed using cones in many threads.  I am religious about conning, truck and trailer each time we park.  This weekend I took my new F450 to get coffee Sunday morning.  I left cone in place which was foot and half in front of my truck, three feet within my park space.  While I was gone a class "A" going wrong way down road, took out the cone!  I mean smashed it.  It was broad daylight and he ran it down, never stopped.  I returned, administered first aid, but it was too far gone.  No services will be held !  I will cone forever!

I would rather give drivers a target other than my new F450!

They may as well print "Aim Here" on any orange safety device.

True story... I was on the way to work and dang if they did not close the road, So I'm in the back up trying to get to my exit about 50 yards ahead (last one open) and some idiot runs the right shoulder to get past all us in line...

Well.. I tend to "Hang right" when in that kind of back up, since everybody else is hanging left instead of seeing nothing but the back of the head in front of me I have a view several cars ahead (Via windshields) So the idiot had to crowd right, His tires were half on grass, at the junction of grass and pavement, unbeknownst to both of us, was a hunk of metal.. Two flats later he got to the exit we were headed for... I got to work, Sent him a trooper to add to his woes. (I mean the sign did say "State Police Next Exit" after all)

He's not the only one I got.. Just the only one I got that way.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

We use an orange cone to identify our site when we have guests coming to join us. We do not put it on the road, we are generally parked 10 plus feet away from the roadway.

In BC traffic fines are double in work zones.

cannon balls...what a memory jogger!! I was about 9 years old and my friend and I wanted to put out the flame so we kept hitting at it with sticks...damn thing exploded and we ended up with smokin' eyebrows. We were lucky!

Isn't the basic idea of the orange object be it cone or barrel to warn drivers to be cautious on the roadway ahead? Makes me wonder for the future of this country sometimes at those who don't know/care what these devices mean or respect the safety message they're meant to impart. If it's so difficult to adhere to a simple warning it's no wonder so many get killed texting and driving.

What makes you think someone who can't see your F450 will indeed see your 48" cone? Just wondering.

X2

Most I do is fold in my mirrors. I think it is big enough to be seen on it's own.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Seems annoying to me. I can also see that cone being an invitation for a key to the side of your truck. I work for a PD in a large metropolitan area and we get calls constantly for big trucks being keyed in parking lots. Im guessing by tree huggers that dont like big trucks. Just saying

Couple weeks ago an inspector for the city of Arlington, Tx was killed when someone plowed through some traffic cones at a construction zone. This inspector was a good friend of my Son-in-law who is also an inspector. He said some of the stuff he has seen people do at construction zones has scared him to death. It is mostly from people talking on the phone or doing something else instead of paying attention while behind the wheel.

Man there is enough stupid in this country to last for decades, not a chance of fixing it either.

Ok I admit it appears I exaggerated, the cone was only 28 inchs tall, the bigger cones I use are taller but not foldable. Maybe that's why it got killed?
