WD hitch on a F150

I have been towing my 4200lb ( loaded ) 18' TT with a single friction bar, no problems.

Getting ready to buy a new TT. Will be between 4200-4500 lbs dry plus about 1000lbs of stuff, so 5200 to 6000lbs loaded.

Questions:

1- Do I need a wd hitch? Never used one, don't want to scrimp on safety.

2-Anyone tow with this TV that can give me a recommendation on WD hitches that work well with the F150? Or can anyone else suggest a good / great hitch that will not break the bank that would work well?

Thanks

You will need a wdh or you will be over on the weight carrying capacity of the stock receiver.

I use a basic curt wd hitch with a single sway bar to pull a simillar size tt with good results. With proper set up of the hitch you should be good with any of the brands of wdh.

You are looking at +- 700 lbs. of tongue weight when fully loaded.
I would be using a WD hitch.
Might as well get one that incorporates sway control also.

Very popular and both are a good choice:

That is also what I use. Would make a great choice

X3, either will work, I prefer the Reese

equal-i-zer

Better price than Hensley. Head and shoulders beyond WDH and friction sway. Buy to keep, not sell with your trailer.

If set up right, any WD hitch will work. Know the tongue weight and get the right bars.
