Weights for an awning shade

Recently we picked up one of those drop shades that one attaches to the awning to give more vertical coverage. Bought a 15 x 6 model from Shadepro that comes in two pieces and connects with a zipper.

They supply stakes and rope to secure the 4 grommet holes to the ground, I also picked up some different stakes, and bungie cords for the same. Plus a couple of those expandable poles, to help support the awning arms. This may be a little off the wall, but I was thinking I could use some sort of weights in place of the stakes. It would make setups and breakdowns quicker.

Has anyone out there done this, and if so, what weight would you suggest. I would think something that is just enough to hold things down would be sufficient. Appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks for all the great ideas, guess it wasn't off the wall after all.:B I own a EZ canopy I use at home, didn't know about the weights, that's neat.

Here's a link to the shade. The top section slips into the channel in the awning bar, and is rolled up with the awning. The bottom part is 6' high, and whatever total height one needs is made up by the top:

I've been using gallon milk/water jugs for years as temporary weights. Haul them empty, fill with water or sand when you get to your destination, empty when you leave. The ones with the screw-on lids are the best as the lids don't pop off if dropped or banged. Run a bungee cord through the handles and they can be strapped to the ladder or other place if room is not available elsewhere.

I've also seen plastic grocery bags full of sand and gravel used, but they are not very substantial.

btw I have seen RV'ers take water jugs filled with water and paint them to match their awning for weight.

Google EZ Up canopies, they sell weight bags for just what you want to use them for. Gander, Dicks and Bass Pro all carry them.

The slickest ones I saw where weight bags you filled with water. Since Rv'ers are very weight conscious of what they carry on board I thought the water ones were a good idea. Fill'em up to use them and empty them to store them.
