Let's share book ideas!

I'm currently reading Huckleberry Finn. Haven't read it since I was a kid and, no surprise, it's a lot more complex than I remembered :). And a good traveling book!

Also highly recommended, from my just-finished pile, Motoring with Mohammed. It's nothing about war -- it's a travelogue from the 80s, about Yemen. Beautifully written.

Dangggg!?! That was wayyyy heavy handed for a history book, IMO.
Oh well guess I'll stick to 'The 5 Little Peppers and How They Grew':Z

For those who are curious, the Book whose Name may not be Uttered is the 2016 offering by E. J. Dionne, who has been described as 'radically centrist'.

I don't own an RV. I'm dreaming. Picked up a copy of Road Trip USA by Jamie Jensen and plotting road trips on the trip planner.

I just read a fun and different book. Dog On It, by Spencer Quinn, is about a detective and dog team as seen and narrated through the eyes and mind of the dog. It makes for a cute and interesting story line, especially if you're a dog lover like I am.

I just found a mystery writer named J. Michael Orenduff. His books take place in Albuquerque,New Mexico. The protagonist digs up , replicates and sells Ancient Puebloan pots. There is a ton of info about the area, ancient pueblos , present day puebloan life in the southwest in the books. Excellent series.

Sounds good!

In a similar vein, I highly recommend Stan Jones' novels, featuring detective Nathan Active, an Alaskan Native cop, and Andrea Camilleri's Sicilian Inspector Montalbano. I think we've already talked about Nevada Barr's books. Sense of place, all around!

Moved past my fascination with DWEMs and read almost all the works of V.S. Naipaul this summer. Interesting to read his growth from 'The Suffrage of Elvira' to 'The Middle Passage'. I just started 'In a Free State'.
