Was replacing my toilet today, and got a good look at my black tank down the poop chute. Looks like a ledge or a wall. I always thought the bottom was flat with a slight slope. Any ideas? See pic below.

When doing any sort of black tank task, I always try to rope my kids into helping. They always decline for some reason. I've only had one black tank "incident", but that was more than enough for them to stay clear of it ๐

To loosen the hardended gunk dump a half bottle of dish cleaning, we used "shoute" detergent to clean the radiators and engines when oil and coolant got mixed, fecal matter is more grease than what people know, let stand a couple of days and then dump and use a wand to rince out.

The funny thing is that it was sitting for two years 2/3 full. Dumped it at a dump station, but had a line behind me, so had no time to flush. I was surprised that it looks as clean as it does.
Like beemerphile said. The sides of the tank are "stepped" to rest on the tank supports. The hole in the the top of the tank for the toilet pipe is very close to the edge of the tank. It's probably between a half an inch and an inch.
You are looking at the location where the tank sits on mounts. Mine is like that the full length on both sides. Looking underneath there are steel angle mounts bolted to the trailer frame.
