The one I have now is pretty loud !!
I have a Yamaha 2800 iSHC. Almost new with only about 2 hours on it.
Mounted on the rear receiver hitch of my Class C.
Thanks.

Some thoughts on noise.... you probably can't hear a one-dB difference, many people can't.
A three-dB difference is twice the energy, not twice as loud. A 10 Db difference is 10-times the energy.

A 3-dB change is noticeable to almost everyone.

Many people think that twice as loud is something between 6 and 9 dB (or 4 to 8 times the energy)

This is because the human ear is neither linear nor logarithmic.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

To muddy the waters a little there is still another choice. I'm getting up towards a thousand hours on mine if I remember correctly.

Another option

TWO Honda 2000i generators with the double hook-up kit or whatever its called. Easier to lift and move one at a time, only use one when all you need is 2000 watts, they simply sip fuel, if one fails on a trip you still have the second one. No brainer in my book!
I went this route also. Primarily because the 3000's are too heavy for me to move around. Although I do think my brother's Yamaha 3000 is quieter than my twin 2000's paralleled.

we're talking about the Champion 2000w inverter generator, NOT the popular open-framed non-inverter 3500 model.

the Champion 2000w has similar db noise ratings to the Honda or Yamaha 2000w inverter generators.

Sorry missed your post that the Costco Yamahas can NOT be hooked together.
Too bad.
I am near the Costco in Medford Oregon and they have them at $599,
plus no sales tax in Oregon.

If so, where do you buy the cord?

didn't you read my post, two above?:h

i stated that the Costco Yamaha-powered 2000w inverter generator, does NOT have parallel capability.
that's why i recommend the Champion 2000w since it sells for less and does have parallel capability.

And yes I was considering the Yamaha 2400i. Thanks..

If size matters, check the EF2400iSHC, same sound level as the 3000i but lighter and smaller. The 2400 is as small as I've seen that'll run a 13.5k AC.

I have the Honda 2000i, pretty much the same noise level, to us it's still loud. I do not use it for AC, which it's too small for anyway.

I was at Costco over the weekend and they had their in house brand which is a copy of the Yamaha 2000 (same Yamaha motor) and its $599!. You could get two of those and be barely over the price of one Yamaha or Honda 2000 and have the same great features and low noise(51 db).

you can get the Champion version of the 2000w inverter generator for about the same price, or less, and it has the ability to be paralleled.
the one you saw does not have this feature.

Northern Tool has the gray version made for them, by Champion for only $579:

BIL has the Yamaha 3000 SEB that runs his 13.5 AC just fine. It sure is quiet. I wish I had one.
