When was the last time?

As an ex-cop, I know there are lots of thieves. Occasionally on this forum and others I hear of people getting items stolen from the RV while camping. I've been wondering when was the last time you've been ripped off. Was it from a state/federal park, a boondocking place, or an RV park? What did you lose? What precautions do you take, by habit, to prevent thefts?

We had a license plate stolen during the night while we were asleep. That was in an RV park in Fruita, Co.

In 44 years we have had nothing taken. I was born and raised in Detroit so everything is always locked. My parents had a thief in Florida one year. My father had been shelling pecans they had gotten in GA on the way South when they went to a store. When they came back all of the shelled nuts were gone. The neighbors said the squirrels had a great time.

Leave the rat race mentality and worries at home. Theft is not a big issue at CG's . Use reasonable precaution and enjoy yourself.

I guess we've been lucky but I do try to keep everything locked up. So far nothing has been taken.

my folks have been camping since the 1950's. DW and I since the 70's, my brothers similar.

So far NONE of us has had anything disapear from a campsite due to theft. forgot and lost stuff, yes, but theft no. we take somewhat reasonable precautions, but nothing excessive. coolers, chairs, etc. stay outside, generator chained at night. IMHO campers are in general much much more trustworthy., helpful, and conciencous then society in general.

In 3 years nothing, but we did work at a campground on a lake where during the night, someone went around the shoreline on the water and stole boat motors off boats, fishing equipment and personal items left on board or on the beach at the private homes and the campground dock area.

Thanks brother, for your service. We all know too many who didn't retire, and more who died emotionally before they did.

Never ! The only thing Iv ever lost was my fault for being in a hurry to leave. I lost a table cloth, bug candles and a fire starter.

Boondocking in Silverton Co this last Fourth of July, people implode the area to watch the fireworks display, my grandson's bicycle was taken. our neighbors next to us made sure we were asleep when this all transpired. Granddaughters were awake saw them take it, they came through our camp knocked over our bikes and took his. next morning we were looking for it and my SIS saw it tucked in between car trailer tires and told me about, I walked over into their camp, not saying a word people were just looking at me while they were cooking breakfast, I went over to the bike, picked it up and walked out, never saying a word. Just Looks@!!!! I'm glad she saw it my GS would have been devastated. he's 4.
but that's the first in 30 years plus camping
