I've done the same as you. I never hooked up my water hose directly to my RV, but filled the tank instead. I felt uncomfortable having water pressure constantly in the lines and preferred to pressurize only when needed. That way, if there's a leak, damage may be minimized. If my water pump cycled too frequently when no water was being used, I would know there was a leakage somewhere (usually a faucet not completely shut off).
