Resuming Rving... ideas dealing with Covid.

We never really stopped but limited to trips to nearby campsites.

Previously, we make multi-state camping trips.

This time with Covid and having those low-compliance (actually, defiant) states on health protocols, planning looks very challenging -- almost impossible not to stop on those states from West to East trip. We've already completed the West from Mexico border into Canada (Victoria BC and Vancouver).

Or maybe re-do the West Coast until Covid is actually under control and vaccination reached mass immunity (70 to 80%), seen to be about fall.

Any ideas from better minds around here?

So much garbage on this thread. Too many posts claiming numbers with no reality behind them, just personal motive.
Here's a fact I do know. I contracted covid from a surface and NOT from anything airborne. I know exactly who I got it from and when I was exposed. I know that person was NOT sneezing or coughing and had very minimal symptoms.
I also know that you don't want this. While I didn't end up in the hospital, it was a misery that I have not experienced in 60 years of life. The pain and damage to my body is unmistakable and if I had not been in good physical shape, things may have turned out differently (according to my Dr.'s). While I was sick, an old friend died from covid 19.
So assume it's on every public surface - because it CAN be. Take precautions and don't use anyone's personal agenda or politics to make decisions about your own safety.

The seven states with the highest infection rate per 100,000 people per CDC currently are Texas, New York, New Jersey, Arkansas, Georgia, Rhode Island and Delaware. If you can find a common disregard for health protocols in that diverse a mix of states, you are better than me. About the only thing I see is that most of those states were hit by severe winter storms over the last few weeks, confining people inside their homes, kind of the opposite of RVing.
As for the continued posting about the need to wear gloves, sanitize often etc. It may be good grooming advice, but it does not appear to be a factor in the spread of COVID. The CDC, as well as many other experts have repeatedly said COVID is spread by areosol transmission and that surface spread is extremely unlikely and rare. Other than the fact that for some reason "experts" are reticent to admit they were mistaken, there is no medical reason to fear gas pumps and grocery bags. The simple precaution of avoiding large, tightly packed, indoor gatherings will most likely prevent you from contracting the virus, especially after you have gotten a vaccination. So avoid Beatlemania, stay out of the mosh pit, don't slam dance, and pass on crowd surfing at Coachella and you should be fine.

We have kept on camping and traveling in our motorhome. We do stop for fuel, but usually just use the MH , for bathroom facilities. Unless we need something, we mask up, fuel up, pull out.

We are socially distanced from everyone except our family/friends (bubble). We (DH and I) have been vaccinated but our teenage daughters have not. Hopefully, that will occur soon.

Keep on Camping!!!!

Wide open spaces in DVNP. Just spent a week out there. Met a NY couple that was going to move on but decided to stay a full two weeks as they felt it was a great place to chill until they could fly back for their second shot. You can drive and explore the back roads for hours and not see a single person. Plenty of remote camping.

I'll start by addressing "immunity". I'm really not sure immunity from this virus can be accomplished. Many people have contracted it numerous times. Maybe, over time, we can build anti-bodies to ward it off, but, for the time being..... The vaccine is only to reduce the effects of the virus. It does not contain the virus itself. Lastly, i, like millions of others, want my life back to normal. I have received both doses of the Phizer vaccine. I am now willing to venture beyond my doorstep.

A little correction:

Out of 115 million confirmed cases, there have been a couple of dozen potential (not sure) reinfections. Not that you want to catch it to gain immunity but if you've had it, you are pretty much just as immune as if you had the vaccines.

The vaccines are quite effective against stopping you from getting sick at all and extremely effective against serious illness.

Now back to the subject: It's pretty much a non-issue unless you want to visit densely populated indoor sites. Of course, most of those are closed or have significant attendance restrictions.

We've done a loop over the winter from Michigan to Utah, to S. Cal to Texas to Florida (still finishing). Most places you can check in by phone with no contact. Use your onboard bathroom facilities and there really is no significant risk.

Been all over the South East this year from central PA to West Palm Beach and as far West as Knoxville. Plenty of campground space and just kind of keep to our selves. We both have now had our 2nd Phizer Covid shots with no after affects. Heading back to FL next Monday. I say motor on but stay safe.

RVing provides a great opportunity to socially distance etc.. perhaps even better than what you can do living at home.

You have to get gas to do your local whatevers, so follow the same precautions when gassing up on the road.

You have to get groceries etc while at home, so just follow the same protocols while on your trip, and try to stock up as much as possible before you leave.

Other than that, you are essentially (or can be) isolated, which is a great thing.

I would just do what has worked for you, and keep that up while on the road.

Been camping for close to nine months here, playing golf the entire time of the Covid thing albeit with restrictions. Like many many small businesses have pointed out they are shuttered but โ€œessentialโ€ businesses like liquor stores and pot shops can be open. Many of the CGs weโ€™ve been to have gone to touch less checkin, and keep things cleaner (which they should have been doing), closed group areas and activities. Use a mask, wash your hands, keep hands off your face, donโ€™t get in anyone elseโ€™s face and go enjoy the great out of doors.

I shop early...very early...for groceries thereby avoiding crowded markets. I wear plastic gloves when getting fuel, carefully strip those off and use a hand sanitizer kept in the driver's door. And unfortunately I stay away from others 10 feet.

RV'ing is great for social distancing, we did a 2000 mile trip last fall and didn't get within 20 feet of another person. When we needed groceries, we had Instacart leave them on the picnic table outside.

YOU just mask up, social distance, wash your hands and go about your travels

Not really much difference then going grocery shopping, going to fuel station, going to doctors, etc etc etc

YOU can control your encounters but you will never be able to control the fools

As for food delivery...........have no control over WHO is making it, delivering it etc
I'll do my own shopping and cooking as I can control it vs someone (who knows who)
Is it time for your medication or mine?
