Anyone ever add an aftermarket ice maker to a Norcold unit that doesn't have one? Any reason you couldn't do it? Thanks.

Ok, I'll stick to my trays. This fridge is not pre-wired anyway so I would have to start from scratch. Just checking all of our options b4 we decide keep or toss.

The Icemaker wiring is NOT part of the regular Refer wiring. The harness is just run on the back side. You have to order the Icemaker harness/the Water solenoid and the Icemaker and fill spout. Doug

Couldn't no.. Shouldn't yes.

If you want one I have most of one I'll give you.. And with a bit or work we can pull the wiring harness and water solenoid as well.

My Dometic came with one, Both companies use the same product line for their ice makers, No significant difference.. It was a bit of a PITA, and what's more.. IT finally failed (The water line from the solenoid to the ice tray split.. I'd replace it save read on)

Well.. I replaced it originally with 4 Rubbermaid ice cube trays.. now down to two cause,, These two make ice faster than I can use it.

The Ice Maker.. Was not so swift.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I had an OEM Norcold ice maker and had nothing but problems with it. I was using DISTILLED water and the idiot tech adviser at Norcold claimed that was the problem the ice maker had all the problems. Water would not flow to fill, the mechanism would not defrost. I yanked it out by its roots.

Dometic and Norcold Icemakers are the exact same as in residential refers. The problem with installing is both Dometic and Norcold have a disclaimer from adding a Icemaker. But you can add one. You just have to drill the fill spout hole and mount the icemaker in the freezer and connect the Icemaker wire harness and install the water valve solenoid. For your money, I would find space and install a U line RV Icemaker. either the b 195 or the sp 18. Doug
