What would cause severe wear to the rod at the connection end? Almost no wear on the rest of the rod. I use teflon tape on the threads. Two brand new rods, two years in a row.

It's this rod. I'll just plan on buying a new one before camping season.

Mine too, and same guess.

There are two different materials used for anodes, magnesium and aluminum.

My wear like that as well. I've always thought it's the area closest to the other metal source so it wears more there than the "free floating" end. Not sure I'm correct on that but it appears the anode is doing what it is suppose to do.

Are the rods the same manufacturer and which manufacturer?
Something in the water or wrong anode material for that water.
