Converter breaker labelling

When I'm running my air conditioner unit from the generator I turn off the converter breaker to keep the load down but that breaker is labelled rec/conv what the heck does rec mean?

Your question brings up IMO an important point for both CBs and 12 fuzes and that is one should make sure they understand "EXACTLY" what each CB and each fuze protects and make a list now before you have a problem. This should have every 110V and 12V light, appliance, item that uses either 12 or 110 v power. This is critical when one item goes out since that way you can trace where the issue might be.l I keep a copy of my list taped inside the converter power cover so I know where it's at when and if needed.

P.S. don't forget to include the actual ground fault items since some outlets on that might be there more from convenience than actually being required by code.

Agreed, but I'm right on the bleeding edge of running the air conditioner safely.

I like to keep the a/c volts above 115 to protect the compressor motor and it will dip below on occasion with rec/conv breaker on.

Thanks

My 5th has a stand alone conv. plugged into a rec. It is the only thing on that circuit.

Unless you have a bunch of lights on or your battery is low, the converter isn't much of a load.

The Parallax 7355 often has one circuit breaker the converter and receptacles share. In ours that includes GFCI ones. Also the 120v lights.

Also includes the receptacle the fridge 120v plugs into outside, so the procedure to turn off the converter to run the air conditioner might make the fridge switch to propane. (It probably is anyway in this scenario to save generator load)

With no converter on, 12v must come from battery to run the controls for the thermostat, fridge, etc.

I had a compatible breaker and spare slot, so I put the converter on its own breaker.

Op back, you guys are right its something outlet related because I remember once after flipping the breaker my wife mentioned that something shut off. Forgot about going back and checking it out.

I'll be going back to the camper tomorrow and check them all out.

Some converter/chargers come with a 120VAC PLUG. My PD9260C has this...
I would guess that is what REC stands for... My 5th wheel is labeled CONV and I suspect in most trailers this will end up being the second circuit breaker down the panel with the MAIN Circuit breaker being the first. The MAIN and CONV is stamped on in INK. All the rest is penciled in...

Take an outlet tester around and see what is off.
Probably non-GFCI linked outlets.
