Dometic AC replacement grille very fragile

One of my Dometic AC grilles had the tab break off. I ordered this one:

Somehow, it installed OK, but the first time I had to change the filter both tabs broke off and the grill broke in the middle. The plastic is extremely brittle, perhaps it was a bad batch. The comments have several users having them break, sometimes on the first installation.

I hesitate to keep buying these, has anyone had better luck with a different source? I think I could make one out of some aluminum grille material. My previous Coleman units never had this problem.

One tab broke off over a year ago, so I tried crazy glue (don't know what brand) to hold it together. Removed cover several times to clean filter and it's still holding.

Both taps also broke off on mine, I use those little twist ties to hold the grill up in place now.

Mine broke in my second year and never use ac ...just checked filter once and bankgo..both tabs broke.
Put screws in to hold grill and perfect.
