Dometic Brisk Air blower motor replacement #59516.331

I searched the internet and found there wasn't a lot of info for the DIY's to replace the blower motor so here goes!!!

Being somewhat mechanically inclined, I talked to Chris at Meyer's RV and he gave me the replacement kit number....#11-46916, from Dometic...These kits can be found all over the internet at different prices....

Remove the shroud, use PB Blaster or Sea foam first on the shafts....Remove the sheet metal screws holding the plenum together so you can get to the motor....remove the 3 nuts holding the motor to the plenum, remove the foot bracket in front of the motor....The squirrel cage will prevent you from removing the motor so the clamp must be loosened for motor removal...I loosened the 4 screws holding the evaporator coil for easier access to that clamp...Using a small pry bar and the motor as the fulcrum, I could ease the motor out of the housing...the squirrel cage remains behind....I cut the wires from the motor about 4 inches from motor....

Now the fun part!! Installing the motor went fairly smooth once the shaft was lined up with the squirrel cage....Tighten the clamp on the cage, tightened all nuts on the motor brackets, and attach the front fan....Now the wiring.....The red, black, and yellow wires were simply followed to the connecting block and replaced, remove the old wires....Your kit comes with a new capacitor which must be used....Open the housing that the old white and brown wires went into, using the jumper wire provided, connect the old white terminal with one of the new terminals on your new capacitor ( doesn't matter which side )discard old white wire...connect the new white wire from motor to the same side of capacitor as the jumper wire....connect brown wire from motor to the opposite side of the new capacitor...remove old brown wire and leave that terminal empty....close up the plenum, replace shroud and your good to go!!!

The entire project took me about 2 hours and saved me about $400 dollars from Camping World!!:)
I'm not done yet!!!:B

I was prepared to do the same motor replacement BUT I solved my problem here.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Great work.
Did it run any smoother? What were you fixing?

Proud of you, and Good writeup! Gentlemanly of you to plug Meyer's RV too. You can see from the CW quote that it gets economic to replace the A/C for just about any problem we can't correct ourselves.
