fridge sensor up or down for colder?

I wasn't able to successfully search it and I'm in a spot where I only get access off and on.

To bring the temperature down in the fridge do I move the sensor up or down on the evaporator? Logic say higher to read the higher temps.

We just got in from 5 days. I took fans but the fridge ran at 35f the whole trip. It was a short trip so Honey only bought enough food for three extra days.

I added a second vent fan (12VDC computer fan) to help with cooling.

You hit it on the head. I put the thermistor back in place yesterday and the fridge is 35 degrees today. There is a chance that it fell out on the trails on the way in and has been short cycling since.

Thank you for the help all.

Thermistor measures 'fin temp' which is 10*F lower than compartment temp

IF thermistor is not in clip and on fin then the thermostat MAY run fridge continuously or MAY short cycle.

Looks like I'll test the thermistor and check the flame on the burner tube too.

Well while I assumed it was over loading, the fridge just never recovered for the rest of the trip. Even with the cooler it had been too warm for too long and we lost a far bit of meat.

I started it up yesterday in the storage lot thinking that it would be nice and cool when I checked it today. Instead it said 56 f and I found that the thermistor had come out of the holder that keeps it right near the fins. I can't imagine it being warmer right near the fins but that may not be how it works. We are giving it another day. The freezer was well below freezing but not 0*.

I did look up the stack during the trip and could see the light through the vent screen. I'll check from up top tomorrow.

Hi Don. I'll be looking into the fans as well as efficient mini fridges.

Old B. Between us being here a while, the cooler and some stuff getting tossed, the fridge is no longer overloaded.

2old, there is only a sticker indicating where the thermistor goes.

Gm, a generous thought but we don't see many big rigs this far in, mostly 4x4 and ATV's.

Yikes! Any big motor homes around that might have residential fridges with abundant/overflowing ice cube compartments? (We always give our ice-maker output away to tenters.)

Just for fun, look at the inside wall of the refer and see if there's a sticker that says which way to move it.

An 'over packed' absorption fridge will struggle to maintain proper temps in food section.

Thanks for the quick replies. You all are great.

We have been so spoiled with shorter trips that we over bought for an extended one. Next time I will bring the mini fridge too. It may be a power pig but we that's the one thing we have to spare. Until then it's 24 miles round trip for ice every few days.

IF you have a Dometic fridge with a NON-ADJUSTABLE temp setting control on upper fridge control panel then you can affect fridge temp by sliding clip with thermistor on far right fin:

UP......Cooler temps
DOWN....Warmer temps

Wait overnight to check results (minor affect overall 4*F-6*F)

Hi Jim,

Up--but it doesn't make a heck of a difference in mine. I finally added interior fans and that has helped immensely, especially with initial cool down time.
