My buddy has a 2003 Holiday Rambler Vacationer 33ft. He has no interior lights or outlets working. With shore power plugged in he measures 220V at the gfi outlet? Any ideas? Thanks!

So he had it checked out today, transfer switch burned up, took the microwave and TV with it. Could have been a lot worse, could have burned to the ground :E I told him no more space heaters propane is cheap compared to this :B Thanks to all who replied! Buddha

Pedestal must be wired incorrectly. He needs to get them to test it. They should pay for any damage that he finds now and will find later if in fact the 30 amp receptacle is wired 240 volts.

Could the campground box have been miswired? I would still like to know the voltage at the receptacle that the RV was plugged into.

He is a full timer at a camp ground and plugged into the box 30 amp. He comes home on weekends and had 2 space heaters plugged in. Came back Monday to this situation. Has 220 volts at GFI and microwave plug and microwave is shot. Propane is cheaper than this ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for the replies!

Also seem many posts where someone incorrectly plugs a 30 amp plug into a home electric dryer outlet which is 220v. Where is your friend plugged in?

What is the voltage where the RV is plugged in? Some people have had electricians wire up a 30 amp receptacle and the electrician assumed the receptacle was a 220v receptacle.

With the exception of an electrical fire, this is as bad as it gets. Many expensive appliances are probably junk now. Unplug and get a professional to track down the problem.

Try disconnecting from shore power. Start genset and check voltages.
It may be too late if it was connected up to system with open neutral or incorrectly wired shore connection.

Where is this GFI located? my guess would be a bad meter.

No, both 15 and 30 amp have ONLY ONE HOT. No way to get 220 VAC with only one hot.

Is this at a camp ground or at home-wired outlet.

50 amp coach or 30?

Something IS mis-wired, and DANGEROUSLY SO.

Disconnect immediately and find and fix the cause before plugging back in.

Open neutral!
Unplug immediately and get some qualified electrical help.
Damage may have already occurred.
