LED/TV reception

I'll try this here! I have a '11 Keystone Cougar 326 MKS, got tired of the incandescent bulbs, so I got some LED's (29 diodes per led), now when watching TV at night turn on the three pendent lights and TV goes to "no signal". How can I fix this cause I have a hard time finding my snacks in the dark??? Thanks, Dan

AFAIK, he is. Last time I checked, he was still selling. I've noticed that his offerings come and go, i.e. he sometimes shuts down and I don't know if that is a cultural thing or a business practice.

I have one set that.. Well, my TS-2000 can detect it.. If I happen to tune to the right frequency.. but "Detect" and "Causes interference" are worlds apart.. The Florescent 12 volt "Ballast" they replaced.. would rip my ears off if I was on 80 meters.

I switched my lights over to LEDs several years ago. None of the LED lights have regulators in them and I have never had a problem with interference.

In this case cheap is better. Of course, not all regulators cause interference.

I'd suggest to pull one of the LED assembly's out of the lamp and look on the circuit board to see if there are some Small Micro Devices soldered onto the board. That will be a regulator circuit and probably the root of your TV interference issue.

If finding a regulator, replace with inexpensive LED panels from China without a regulator. E Bay is a good source and 2011_LED is a known, reputable vendor. I have some unregulated LED panels from him that are on year 5 and all are operating correctly.

"problemS". Many and in different areas. Ineptness of design and quality of assembling of our RVs are inferior to Chinese and East European domestic cars. Some of these problems are hard to fix. My AM radio goes nuts when propane fridge kicks in. Your LED problem is easy to fix.

Tell us exactly which LEDs you have. LEDs themselves are DC devices, so don't generate any radio frequency (AC) interference. But some LED lamps may have auxiliary voltage regulation, which can.

Good advice. Without getting into a lot of electronics theory, there is good reason to use both together. Also, keep the leads on the capacitors as short as possible.

OH, for all Radio/Television problems folks there is a good book or several sold by the ARRL.ORG book store.

One I liked was titled Radio Frequency interference (or RFI handbook) and that is where much of my knowledge on this comes from.

I also spent a couple years in College and trade school studying Electronics and science in general...

Hi! I'm currently at NAF El Centro, Ca. with TV coming out of Yuma, Az. I don't know if El Centro has a repeater. I got the LED's at a RV dealer in Corpus Christi, Tx., not cheap! DW just informed me the tv sometimes goes nuts when I use the remote to put the awning in/out. Could there be a problem in the rig. The only changes I made to rig was to replace the converter with a PD-9360 about a year ago. The power is coming in through a EMS-PT50C. Hope this helps. Thanks Dan

Here is another problem that arises, my garage door remote fails from out on the street when some old LED lights are on as well as when my Nesco Food Dehydrator.

The remote will work inside the garage but not from outside.

The door opener is a Chamberlain and not inexpensive. This problem is mentioned in the manual.

I've had LEDs knock out strong TV stations.

Tightly twisting the power leads in a drill and snapping on a few ferrties have been effective enough on the worse offenders, but is obviously not an option for wiring already behind walls.

I've more issues with my both AC/DC and DC/DC laptop power supplies knocking out my strongest TV stations that are broadcast on VHF hi( 8 and 10), but a halfassed faraday cage over the brick has a fair amount of effectiveness so far.
