Need help choosing generator(s)

Jayco 32BHDS Jay Flight with 15k AC / 2nd AC with 50A service

can you please tell me what I need to be fully self sufficient?

Considering (2) Honda/B&S 3000 units or Q6500/EU7000iS

What are my best options? pros? cons?

Im not sure bout the Honda, but the Champion does offer a linking parallel kit that binds the two together and has 50A receptacle on the joining kit.

If you can mount it, the 6500/7000i is your best option, but if you have the room twin 3000is. The reason is unless you need ac you really only need one. I have that ac on a 30ft TT and use the 3000 to run ac, otherwise we rarely use micro tytpicaly when connect to CG. Otherwise invest in solar. I have 428 watts on the roof with twin 6 volt Trojan batteries. Just did a week on the outerbeach and didnt bring the genny at all. We take showers, wash dishes, watch tv, run the wifi system as well as charge phones laptops. Wished i put solar up top earlier. That said my 3000i is now 13 years old and works like a charm. You do get what you pay for and those cheap Champions are not as quiet when they are full throttle. So noise is a consideration. So I would buy one 3000 and use the other money to put solar up top with trojan batteries. If your just charging your batteries with the 3000 I have gone 5 days before I put gas in it

PS my last pair of trojans are 13 years old and still going so it wasnt even a thought to put a pair on tis new to use TT

I have [2] 15k AC units, an outdoor refrigerator, radio and lights running in my TT running on 50A service. I doubt that I am anywhere near max cap. of 12k watts therefore I think I am going to go with [2] Champion 3500 <100262> running in parallel. Can someone kindly run the calculations and let me know if this will suffice?

I would do some research on the Honda handi 3000i, I purchased two last year to pair, there are two ways to do that to also get 5200 watts and 47 amps, coupled with a companion gas tank . They only weigh 80 lbs each, I'm 63 years of age and can load them in I pickup by myself, might be worth your while to check them out.....

If you must run it all then I would be looking at an on-board generator in the 7500+ watt category. Otherwise if going portable I would look at getting 2 or 3 Honda 2000 and tie them together along with an extended run fuel tank.

Wow. You learn something new every day. Technically a 50-amp, 240V post is 100 amps. That's a lot of juice.

I looked it up after that post. Each leg is 50 amps at 120 volts. So it is 12000 watts. So if you want to run both A/Cs, the microwave, the clothes dryer, the dishwasher, the vacuum, and everything else electrical at once, you can at a 50 Amp post.

NOT appropriate for campground usage.

Fine for boondocking, auto races, home backup power.

I am just curious about your plans with your camper. Are you sure you need a generator(s)? You are on Long Island - the majority of campgrounds around you will have electrical hookups. Are you planning on "boondocking" or extended camping trips?

I guess that would depend on the generator or generators themselves.

If I choose the Cabelas larger unit then most likely sit in the back of my pickup but if running lets say 2 Champ3400 units that could move them out a bit.
