Nitrogen Tire Top Off Kit

I am in search of a nitrogen topping off kit that could be carried in one's vehicle that could successfully store the unused portion until needed without leaking. We just purchased our DENALI and when checking to find that nitrogen filling stations are few and far between. On several of the web sites, they mention that the CO2 kits would accomplish keeping water out, but they are designed to inflate bicycle tires.

And this is important to you, why?

Next thing will be why the color of his generator is wrong. :B

No, we didn't use nitrogen then.

And you should not be using it now!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

Watch this, It debunks every single argument for the use of nitrogen in car (or RV) tires that there is, and it does it by actually looking at the claims from a scientific viewpoint. If you can get your "nitrogen" for free, go for it; otherwise, I have much better things to spend a few bucks on.

"Go to an air/gas supply house...or welding supply shop. One can get what they need"

Wild Card, I called them and they said I would have to lease one of their bottles which would amount to $137.00 for a lifetime lease with a refill costing around $25.50. I currently have an Argon bottle, an Acetylene bottle, and a Oxygen bottle from them, so I am not new to this process. With my health problems and the fact that I turn 70 soon, I will just stop by McKnight Tire and Auto when I make my VA visits and fill my tank for free. Thanks for your suggestion.

Bill.Satellite, he did just that, I watched the whole process. I entered the maintenance field in the Army in 1969 and retired from the maintenance field in 1993. During this period I spent 19 months, six hours a night bouncing (installing) tires and performing all types of repairs that were offered by Manny, Moe, & Jack(Pep Boys)on Hampton BLVD, Hampton, Va. No, we didn't use nitrogen then.

If he purged your tires he would have needed to deflate, inflate and deflate again before filling for the final time. I hope that's what happened but you would have gotten more value from your $20 by spending that money on a nice movie for you and the wife!

Despite the overwhelming majority of people here who responded and said that there really is no significant benefit......you persist.

I guess there are worse ways to waste $21.55.

I had a doctors appointment today, and while I was in the city, I was advised of a tire dealer that uses nitrogen when requested. He filled my new aluminum air tank, and purged all four of my trucks tires and filled them with nitrogen. The total cost for my visit was $21.55. He has a returning customer in me now as I do my VA medical visits about 8 blocks from his establishment. Thanks to those that offered ideas that were of great help.

That usage for compressed nitrogen makes sense. Nitrogen to fill tires, not so much. Unless it's free and then it's a wash.

Even at 21% O2 content air is an oxidizer. I remember a comment made by a school chum Art Hmsl - "If I could paint in an oxygen free place you cannot imagine the benefits". I have no idea of what they were...

Very low humidity atmosphere will work for me. I have an onboard 175 lb compressor and a portable tank with a "spitter". Then a drier.

No point, it seems.

Already the consensus here is almost unanimous and involves the same information from about a dozen people.

IF.....you insist on ignoring all of that....why waste any further time and energy trying to get you to see the simple truth ??

Another case of: Don't confuse me with facts; my mind is already made up.

crcr, COSTCO sounds like a good idea, but closest location for me is 134 miles from me in one of the burbs of St Louis. I will pursue the area bulk gas companies and see if they might have a suggestion.

Thank You.
