Odd electrical issue

First off thanks in advance for the forum, hoping you guys can help me out.

I have a issue with power from the generators, powering my Lance Camper.

Panel works, charges etc, The ac, micro etc all run fine off shore power, but when I run via the on-board or either of my Honda EU generators the power "trips" and goes off.

I was told it was likely the power converter, just spent an hour swapping that out to still have the same problem.

TIA, Tom

Hi,

Yes that means there is no transfer switch.

Well it's a lance camper, to run off the on-board generator I do have to plug the shore power cord into a plug in the cord storage compartment.

From that plug it goes directly to the panel/power converter,

Does that mean there is no transfer switch?

an overload switch on the generator maybe?

It's just odd that it was doing it with the portable gens too, and now it's running off the portables fine

Where your transfer switch is located will depend on whether you have a transfer switch, the year, and camper model. If you used the gen in the past and didn't have to plug the AC cord into the gen then you probably have one.

I have an AF truck camper and the transfer switch is mounted under the sink.

Follow the AC power cord in and it should go to the transfer switch as a first stop.

Follow up,,, got the generator running,, spring must have popped out of the fuse holder.

Original problem still persists,,,

Can anyone tell me where to locate the transfer switch?

I don't know where to locate the transfer switch to look to see what model it is.

ok, "what trips", it's not any of the AC breakers

Image all the ac is all off, I start the generator, the light on the microwave lights up for a split second and goes off,,,, no AC working anywhere in the rig but the generator is still running,

It never comes back on

First: What is the make and model of your transfer switch, There are a couple of different operating systems for these and I need to know which yours is.

Next: DO YOU HAVE, something like a Progressive Dynamics HW-50C or HW-30 C (deepending on the RV power feed) or other "Surge Guard" type device.

Finally, what tripps off. does the breaker on the generator trip or just power shuts off on you?

How long does it take to come back on?
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Hi,

Are you simply plugging the shore power cord into the generator?

yes,

I went out and cycled the "30 amp line breaker" switch which is on the on-board generator,, also removed the panel to find the blue wire on that switch loose.. put it back together only for the odd problem gets odder,, now it works via both portable generators (like it always did just fine in the past), but now the generator won't even turn over from either switch,, but I am getting 13v to the fuse on the generator,,, just odd

Yes,, this is a recent problem,,, everything including the AC running off the EU3000 now

You have an on-board gen, AND 2 Honda's? Is this a new problem?

What trips?

Examine your transfer switch.

My recent research showed 2000 watts would not be enough for my AC - especially at altitude.

True, I tried with a 1000 and a 3000, not even trying to run the AC, this still happens when all the breakers are off too

It could be the transfer switch
That switches from shore to genny not the converter

Where would I locate that on the camper,,?
