I have the Onan 5500 Gold Marquis gas generator below model HGJAB - 1038D...

In changing the oil I use 15w-40 oil so I use Rotella 15w-40 that I use on my diesel truck...

Question is I need comparable oil filter to use as Onan will charge me $11 to ship a $9 oil filter...the Onan part # is 122-0836...is there a comparable oil filter out there that I can purchase at a local retail store??

I've been running 15-40 Rotella in my gas powered microlite and I run 10-30 mobile 1 in my lp vapor microlite. Works fine.

The Wix 51516 is a longer filter that fits the 5500. Makes it much easier to tighten/remove as it sits about an inch outside the housing.

I don't guess my Onan Microquiet 4KW has an oil filter. I went out to look today and did not find one. Even looked in the book and the only filter mentioned was air filter. Hate to sound stupid but I guess it does not have one. If I should switch to synthetic oil do I need to do anything other than just drain all of the oil and replace with proper weight synthetic?
Should have said it is gas powered.

Go to almost any auto parts store and give them the ONAN number and they will hand you a perfect fit with their brand of filter.
