parking with front wheels off the ground

i have seen many times that in unlevel sites people park on their jacks with the front wheels in the air.

will this buckle the chassis or something?

I do it if needed to level and have been since 2002.

Most of the sites at Monterey County (CA) fairgrounds are steep enough that I have to park with front wheels off the ground. Have stayed there many times without any problems. Front wheels - OK, rear wheels - never (that's where the parking brake meets the road).

Feeling and doing are very different. You CAN lift the front wheels WITHOUT issue.

My Bigfoot jacks are rated for 12,000 lbs each. That's 48,000 lbs of lifting capacity holding up a coach with an 18,000 lb GVWR if all the wheels are off the ground. No, I don't worry about the occasional need to have one or both front wheels off the ground to get level.

I drive up on blocks. Under no uncertain terms raise any of the wheels off the ground.
I feel fully extending will cause problems!!!!!!

I have done it on occasion without damage. Any longer then an overnight I would use my boards that I made for such instances. Never the rear wheels. Again, have boards I can drive up on.

I don't think the damage is on the chassis but more on the levelers themselves. As others have mentioned, 5th wheels are off, and a rack for service lifts them up, but I think the levelers are meant to make slight adjustments and are not meant to support all the weight with tires off the ground.

Is this different from having a vehicle up on a lift for service?

I don't know if this helps or not but a 5th wheel front wheels are always off of the ground...think about it.
