Progressive Industries EMS display brightness - annoying?

I have installed a PI EMS-HW50C in my trailer (it is wired 50A) and am thinking about mounting the remote display next to the 12V switch and monitor panel. This is on a wood panel directly under the TV and faces into the "salon". For those of you who have lived with the display mounted inside and not in a cabinet, does the constantly changing display get annoying? I have powered the unit up for a test and it is pretty bright but I don't know if it would drive us nuts or not. Thoughts from the folks who have lived with these displays would be greatly appreciated. And I did try to search but couldn't come up with anything about the annoyance factor in the last year.

Thanks in advance.

Mine is mounted in the compartment with the TV, but at a 90ยฐ angle to the screen and view able from the outside doorway. I don't even notice it unless I am wanting to see it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you all very much for your responses. They have pretty much confirmed what I suspected might be the case with it mounted about waist high facing the living area. The cabinets which are below the panels with the switch panel and radio are divided in two vertically. The bottom portion is blocked off with blank panels and covers the back of the power center (and its messy wiring), the converter, and now, the EMS. I will have to recess the display but I can just cut a rectangular hole in a panel and mount it from behind. I can just close the cabinet door when we don't want to see it. If I get my lazy rear end in gear, I'll take some pictures and post in this thread. Hopefully in will help someone in the future.

Thanks again for all of your help.

I have mine in the hall near the bathroom & Bedroom. I don't think I would want to watch tv with that blinking all the time.

I mounted mine much as you are thinking of doing. At first it was annoying and I would not recommend placing it there. After it being there a while I don't notice it nearly as much. I considered putting a piece of tape over the display to cut down on the brightness but never did do it.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Heck, the data cable running from the EMS to the remote monitor is 14 feet long so it should be pretty easy to find a spot for the monitor where the display isn't obtrusive. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ours is mounted in the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom. You can see it while sitting on the throne. Think it would be annoying if mounted where you would see it all the time during normal activities. Was going to mount it in the cabinet where all the other switches for water heater, etc. are but did nit have a long enough cable and did not feel like running out for one.

Put it down low, near the floor and not in "eye site" front and center. It will serve as a good night night. I don't have one, but I find it VERY annoying to have lights and numbers flashing at me all the time. Some LED lights are just impossible to turn off unless you unplug the device completely. But, positioned well, they do make great night lights!

As my motto is for all "gadgets" used for camping, if the "gadget" serves multiple purposes, it's worth having around. Nightlight and EMS display, that's a good multi-task device.

Yes it would be annoying. Mine is in a cabinet that I can open when we are setting up camp to check line quality. I would suggest that, if possible, you mount your display so you can see it as you plug in your shore power, then watch it go through it's line diagnostics. But it has shut down on me when line quality is bad so I don't see a need to watch it like a hawk. I just watch when I am curious but it can be pretty boring. ๐Ÿ™‚

I mounted mine on the street side wall behind the sofa so I can see it directly when looking into the camper from outside through the entry door but where it's not in direct view from inside - not annoying at all. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes - annoying. We mounted ours inside a wardrobe. We can check it when we want.

Yes it would be annoying to me to be front and center.
Mine is by the entry door facing away from the general living area.
