Quiet inverter?

Is there such a thing? I need one in the 350 to 400 range. Have tried 2. Both annoyingly noisy. The fan noise sounds like a small jet!! I think the first one was a Black and Decker. This one is a Schumaker.

I wish my 150w inverter was quiet, it sits in the truck and I can hear the fan inside the trailer. Other than that it has done well for as small and inexpensive it was. Eventually I'll replace it with a fanless when I mount in side.

The Powerjack 3000/6000 PSW inverter we used last year had a quiet fan but when honey ran the microwave it would just sing and whine, make all kinds of crazy noises.

X2, I have a Samlex PST series 300 watt Pure Sign Wave inverter and the thermo controlled fan is very quiet. This inverter runs about $150. Samlex makes a cheaper 300 watt PSW inverter (around $100) but gets poor reviews for a noisy fan. If you go Samlex, the PST series is what you want.

The cheap inverters like Black and Decker, etc, have a loud fan that runs all the time. The better inverters (more expensive) have a quiet fan that is thermo controlled and only run the fan as needed. Go Power and Xantrex are a couple of other good brands.

The very best, like Morninstar, don't have a fan at all.

My cheapy 150 watt is quiet, and it runs the 26" and sat just fine.
I bought it to light a Christmas tree, then 3 yrs later put it online when my noisy 400 watt Cobra quit.

I will second the Morningstar, absolutely quiet and a very small current draw when idle.

I guess if I placed it in a cabinet right behind the TV
Where the air flow is less and the heat is more.
It might bother me

But of all the inverters I have had in four different class A RVs
The noise of the fan has never been a problem
The volume of the TV is much louder than the inverter fan
And usually at some distance from the TV

One of the reasons inverters whine so much, is that they are operating outside their normal operating parameters. My two inverters are virtually silent, no fan running due to the fact I have a Large rated inverter for the use I am expecting from it. When I put a large drain on it (microwave or A/C), that is when the fan kicks in. So, maybe you need to rethink the size you are anticipating to use? Also, are you operating the inverter within the designed distance from your power source? (Battery bank) Most small inverters are just plugged into a DC outlet (cigarette lighter), which already steps down your amperage. Installing a larger inverter (1000w) within 3 feet of your battery bank with a larger Awg cable attaching it to the bank would be the way to go. I would then install a custom outlet somewhere in your camper that is convenient to your use. Then wire a heavy gauge (12g) extension cord from the outlet (female end cut off and hard wired to the outlet), leaving the male end on the cord and run it out of your camper to where your inverter is installed and plug it into the invertor. That way you could install your inverter, out in the wheel well area of your camper and minimizing any auxiliary noise. Personally, I just go to Lowes, buy a specific length of 8 awg and purchase a male plug and make up my own cord. Spend the extra money on a larger inverter and 2/0 welding cables to attach it directly (with catastrophic fuse) to you battery bank. You know how to get ahold me if you need more details.
