Refrigerator Light Bulb?

Our Dometic refer needs a bulb. The manual calls for a 12V halogen with a G-mount bulb. Are these special bulbs? I see 12V bulbs with points on the ends at auto parts stores.

I got one at the auto parts store 12V 10W. Works fine so far. $2.50.

I don't have the old bulb. The bulb is switched to come on when the door is open so I don't see how it could be used for "low Ambient Temp". I see now where the manual page that calls for a halogen bulb is for a different model number than ours. I'll just try a 12V from the Auto parts store.

So what model fridge do you have?
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Just get a matching design, Keep the wattage teh same or lower. hallogen's generate a lot of heat and Dometic (Some models) Use that heat for "Low Ambient Temp" (If you do not have an LAT switch you can go to LED's to save energy)

If you do have an LAT switch, try to match the lamp.

Just take the old bulb down to you favorite auto parts store and they will fix you up. It's not that difficult.

A lot of those light bulbs are called....festoon. Used in a lot of cars and trucks for dome lights....which is the same used in my refrig. Went to an auto parts stores and bought an led replacement and works just great and much brighter.

On a previous trailer of mine, the Dometic light bulb looked identical to a ceiling dome light bulb used in a lot of cars. I would think as long as it is 12 volt and has the identical design as the original bulb it should work. The halogen may be a bit brighter then a standard bulb.

I would look on the base of the bulb for a bulb number and get the exact replacement.
