Running Honda EU generators re-jetted at high altitudes.

Hey all,

Can those who have had experience running Honda EU generators re-jetted at high altitude post your stories? How did they run? Did they run as expected or as what you thought you would get out of them? I'll be camping at almost 10,000 feet in a few months and will re-jet my EU2000i but wanted to ask what other Honda EU generator owners that have re-jetted their generators thought of high altitude experience.

Thanks!

Rudy

Last year I ran mine at 7500 feet and it barely ran just the microwave which takes about 1300 watts. The voltage was low at ~104 volts and the micro was dim. I since bought 2 high altitude jets but haven't had the chance to try them till later this year.

I'm guessing it was only putting out 1200-1300 at altitude. Math says I'm losing 360 watts at 7500, then add the overly rich jetting for another 100--150.

I have done all 3 of mine. I don't remember the exact size I went with, but it was a middle of the road one. Most of my use is between 4000-7500, with up to 9500 occasionally.
So I picked a size that covered most situations. I know I am still a little rich at 9500.
The fuel usage and power output is slightly improved over stock. Not a lot, but it is noticeable. Yes I have done a side by side comparison, before rejetting the last two.
The big payoff is likely long term. The spark plug and combustion chamber should be likeing the correct A/F mixture a lot.

I've never rejetted my EU2000 and run it at 9500Ft with no problems. One would think it would run rich but it doesn't seem to bother it.
