Should I smell propane outside?

We are planning to take out our motor home this weekend so we had the propane filled. We took it to a place that has filled it before but this time the guy had a hard time getting the connector on. He said he couldn't get it started so I tried and did it in seconds. The last time it was filled they filled it to 3/4 according to the guage on the tank while the gauge inside indicated it was full. This time the guy filled it well passed the 3/4 mark on the tank gauge and I can smell it. I'm currently replacing the chassis a/c condenser and can smell it all the way up front. I went back to inspect the tank and can smell it although the valve is off. I do not smell anything inside the coach. What should I do? We have just two days to get this ready.

Yeah those filter heads are crappy. I got rid of mine with a lift pump. Went with a big dipper trans out of maryland. Lol yeah that was my gl hero 3 which is somewhere back at best buy because it was a pos and was freezing too much. I would imagine you can hit a high 13 with a stock trans tune. Efi with idaho rob or kory willis and you cant go wrong. Love my truck.

Nice myrtle beach sounds awesome right about now. I just got back from a 7 day maine trip and it was amazing up there. Saw my first wild moose eating like a deer on the side of the road and the wolves howling at night over the huge lakes was awesome.

The GP hero 3 is tricky. One must update the firmware right out of the box and only use good micro SDHC or SDXC like the top of the line Sandisk or Lexar. I couldn't record more than a minute at a time with full 1080 or 1440 or it would stop within a minute and sometimes freeze. After I updated the firmware and bought better storage, the things been flawless. I like that I can attach to my drone a shoot arial video with good quality.

Your truck sounds awesome. I look forward to giving mine a little extra kick. btw..one of the other campers here saw me hooking up my little propane tank and came over to chat with me. He also had a bad propane tank and decided to change his setup very similar to what I want to do. I love camping and meeting new people. Its awesome. I'm hoping to make it up to Maine next summer. That sounds fun too.

That's awesome, man. The audio sounds like my GP Hero 3. What did you use to record?

I meant crew cab, not sure why I keep confusing quad and crew. I have an 07 Classic LT3. I absolutely love it. Best truck I have ever owned so far. No problems other than losing prime because of the filter head. I'll probably go with an aftermarket setup with a lift pump next time it gives me trouble. Did you upgrade your trans? I'm concerned about its longevity if I do get it in the 13 range. It's my work truck and the only thing that can haul my tractors around.

Anyway, we made it safely to myrtle and the grill tank was very easy to connect to the main line so we made lemonade out of a lemon. Looks like I will have a little project this winter with a custom girdle for two tanks. I love fabrication stuff.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna look into options when we get back next week.

I would def try one of the grill ones. Btw how is the one on there attatched? If you can take it off i would def use a tank that might just be reusable and removable? Hopefully you can trace the gas line and maybe unwind it atleast temporarily. Crazy how it rusted on you i never heard that.

Thanks btw. I was happy with the time she ran, def has more. Had a poor 60' time. I think shes somewhere around 630-640 ish at the wheels. With the stock turbo i pulled a 13.3 no weight reduction. You will be so happy getting some exhaust and tune setup. Cant go wrong with idaho rob or kory willis efi tunes. ๐Ÿ™‚

There's tons of room down there where the old tank is. I started thinking about building a custom girdle for two 5 gallon tanks. That way we can detach them and exchange them quickly almost anywhere. The main line to the coach is right there as well so it looks like it will be pretty straight forward.

If I could get my dually into the 13's that would be amazing. It's my work truck though so I need to be conservative with the mods. Is yours a quad cab long bed? I can't imagine my truck going that fast but it would be funny. One of my car runs high 11's so to imagine your truck being right there with it is amazing.

I guess maybe the newer models are coming with both gas and electric? This is my first camper and i have both but by your reaction thats not the case. Can you attatch a small propane tank to it?

Great minds think alike. I was driving around in my dually today trying to find a place that can make me a custom a/c line for the motor home because the condenser blew a hole and has been discontinued. The only option is a newer unit but the upper hose won't connect do to the angle. That got me thinking about bringing a small tank from our grill and just attach it to the line since I have to remove the old tank anyway. A replacement tank is $500. I wonder if the existing tank can be welded. I could fill it with water and flush it out really good. Welding a tank like that makes me nervous but what do you think? It's just one small spot on the existing weld.

btw. Impressive numbers from your dually. I have an 07 Classic and am thinking about trying to get a little more out of it. Not twins but maybe a tune and exhaust.

Disconnect and open it. Prolly some haters but i had some tanks leak out on me before. Its a natural gas. I wouldnt let that stop me. If you have electric hotwater go camping. Use charcoal to cook. Its fun when things go wrong, its a story to tell later on.

Carolina fuels actually told me they could not remove the propane and that I should park it in a field away from structures and people and open the bleeder. So I did.

We're gonna bring a couple of ice chests for the cold stuff since we won't have propane to run the fridge when driving and go ahead and go. I can handle a cold shower, it wouldn't be the first time. Electric hot water sounds nice, didn't know they made anything like that. The kids will be swimming and doing other stuff so they can rinse at the outside shower.

Thanks.

Edit: reread your initial post and see you have a MH so the tanks are fixed, right? Here's what I would do: call the outfit that filled it, tell them to roll a guy to your location with the necessary connections and tank to bleed yours off.

If you have any spark producing devices, make sure they are off. This means, if you're connected to shore power, turn the power off at your pedesatal or inside the load center at your house. DO NOT attempt to remove the cord from your coach. If you have a battery disconnect switch, turn it off to all banks. Wait for the cavalry and stand back from the coach. If you can open a door or window to the coach without creating a spark, you might try. It might be better to just keep away.

If the outfit that refilled your tank won't come to the rescue, call the Fire Dept..

It's in our driveway not connected to anything. I was gonna move it away from the house but maybe not. I drove it 15 miles yesterday from the fill station. I'll call them and see what they are willing to do. The tank is bolted to the MH.

So I got a bucket and some soap and water and found the leak. Unfortunately it is coming from one of the welds. It had crusted in that area so when I ran the soapy rag over it, it made it a little worse. It looks like we're gonna have to cancel our trip because I cannot locate a replacement. Camping world says 3-5 days to get one. ๐Ÿ˜ž Was gonna be our first trip to Myrtle, kids are gonna be disappointed when they get home from school.

So next question. How do I get the propane out? I have 14 acres so I could put it in a field and open the bleeder but not sure how comfortable I'd feel doing that. Can the Carolina fuel station suck it back out? Not sure I should drive it when it's venting gas but what are my options?

Thanks in advance, everyone. You've been great help.
