NO Know connection between costco & backupgenerators.com
do you have any info do substantiate that 'claim' you just made ?

its been clearly stated, the $369 WAS an introductory OFFER
NOT the normal regular average price with a limited number to be sold and with a 'time limit' on the sale, the sale expired which ever was reached first, I do expect the $599 price will be less by July 2011, how much? "I don't know"

Mr.Wizard,
I am seriously considering purchasing this generator. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to pull the trigger on the Costco deal, due to my employment situation. I will be able to purchase in about a month, but am willing to wait a while if the price is coming back down. What information can I rely on that the price will drop in the next year?
Thanks.

The big question will be: How will the Champion 2000i with the 79cc? engine compare to the Lifan 2200i with the 125cc engine? And in the real world of trying to use one of the two to operate a 13,500 btu A/C?? In other words, what will be the actual ratings of the starting and running amps, of the two. Or also compare the three, the Honda 2000i, the Champion 2000i and the Lifan 2200i,

Backupgereators.com should already be shipping the orders that came in before stock was received. Maybe we will soon have reviews and where the gens were shipped from. We wait with interest.

Does a larger displacement imply a better consistent output under load increase?

Yamaha EF2000is has a 79cc engine. . .

oops, didn't intend to leave out a major player in the quiet 2000 watt inverter market. It does make me feel a little better about the size.

Chatted with Dennis via email recently, seems the new inverter gen will have a 2 year warranty (1 year on labor), so I feel better about the warranty.

Please tell me where! I'm looking to buy one and have not been able to find any price close to that!

I just bought a Honda 2000I for about that much (maybe exactly that much, can't remember exactly) from Wise sales. You have to call them to get a price.

Looks like backupgenerators.com is now selling the new champion inverter...

Too much $$$ IMO.

Hmmm,

Pritch272,

I just clicked on this outfit in Sand Point, ID (backupgenerators.com) and they show the New Champion 73531i IN STOCK and will ship 3/5 days. Price $699.95

Now here is the kicker. They also show the new Champion 46538 IN STOCK at $599.95. These must be the units Costco.com showed as out of stock three days before the sale ended?? Price went up from $369 to now $599

Not finding any new reviews for the 46538?

Maybe someone knows what's up?

Floyd

PS: The new Green Lifan looks good and with the full 125cc engine, 2000w running and Electric Start @ 629 ~ Plus the MIX & MATCH, add a gen option. Can't wait for the McZip review.

Thanks... Just ordered from Home Depot the Lifan 2200 watt electric start. If possible plan on mounting it on under my Rig, behind the rear wheel between the body skirt and frame. If it doesn't fit I'll return it to my local Home Depot.

Was looking at the various Lifan models, noted the engine sizes, if I recall, the new Champion inverter is 79cc. I wonder what effects one might consider for the various size engines. Does a larger displacement imply a better consistent output under load increase? Does it matter other than weight, fuel consumption rates, etc? How about longevity? Noise is probably higher with a larger engine. I had the Honeywell for a while, and it was larger (and heavier) than the Honda 2000i. The All Power APG3102 is about the same physical size as the Honda 2000i, I like the smaller size. Anyhow, bottom line: what are the advantages and disadvantages for each of the various engine sizes?

Hi Folks. I am a new poster but certainly not new to the forum. I am the CEO of Champion Power Equipment (CPE) which is based in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
Champion Power Equipment Inc (CPE) is a California corporation.
CPE is owned by Dennis Trine and Lei Zhoa.
The BBB in Colton, CA is not the Better Busines Bureau we all grew up with. The one here in California requires you to pay for your rating. It is un-American and I won't support them.
CPE directly employs 47 Americans, two with Purple Hearts. Indirectly, we employ well over 10,000 Americans that work in our network of service centers across the U.S.
Our JV (Joint Venture) factory in China is partially owned by myself and Mr. Zhao. All of the engineering, emission regulatory protocols, product development and management is done here in the U.S.A.
We are proud to be adding to the growing free market in China with workers that are the best paid in their county and class of trade. (Free trade is the birthplace of freedom and democracy and little Champ is making a mark in China with pride.)

Unfortunately, all portable power generators available in the U.S. today are manufactured in China. We visit regularly the Honda, Yamaha, Generac, Honeywell, Briggs and Stratton and other factories. I, for one, wish my little gens were made here in the U.S.A. For now, they can't be but we all should be glad that alternative portable power is affordable to the masses and the quality and after sales service is handled with pride and vigor by good, hard working Americans just like you.

Thanks for you time.

With all due respect, what's un-American about paying for services provided by the BBB?

Turns out the AVR (auto voltage regulator) was no good. Somehow it picks up a DC current off the brushes & controls the output AC. Did some tests over the phone with Jim from Champion's tech service (great guy), got a new one coming fed-ex tomorrow. Will post end results on that.

You guys should get your new ones soon. I'm in the same state & it took 5 days to get to my doorstep. Have fun with 'em!

I just noticed on Costco website, listed under shipping and other info' ~ Any online order my be returned to any of Costco 500 locations.

That is good news, to see it listed under the ad for Champion.

Don't have to be a do it yourself repair person. Then maybe void the Costco warranty. They say, just return it. If you really want one after the return, then just re-order. New warranty. If out of stock, maybe you have saved your $$$$$

Every time I return an item to Costco, the first thing they ask for is my membership card. Don't know how the store return policy works for a non-member.

McZippie,

Thought you should know. The Green machine looks great. New Chinese Inverters all over the place. Maybe even Champion will have the ES on their new Inverter coming next month? IIRC one poster found similar parts numbers in Champion and Lifan, if that means anything. And, I had a nice one hour read by clicking on your profile and then the posts. Thanks,

Floyd

Thanks for the kind words. Don't really need a generator on our rig, but I'm gadget and gizmo geek so thought I order one mainly because of the electric start feature.

If I can cut a nice access door in the fender skirt for refueling, extend the exhaust pipe and control the electric start from inside the house then may actually keep it ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway I'll post some pictures and details of it next week.

Floyd, you have become a regular correspondent on this and other threads over the past few years. During that time your knowledge and understanding of not only generators, but electricity and the principles of sound generation and abatement have grown. You and I have shared much both on and off the thread. So, I hope you will not take it as a disparaging comment when I say that it often appears to me that you suffer from an ailment we often got caught up in when I was working on a project in graduate school that required doing research - "Tunnel Vision". It is easy to filter out what you don't want and accept only what you do, rather than looking at the larger picture and weighing each piece of information equally. I believe this is exactly what JC is commenting on with his "Manufactured in the USA" analogy.

Perhaps if you want a real "Made in America" generator you should consider a Briggs and Stratton. A well established AMERICAN company that builds everything right here in the good old USA with American labor. Or, perhaps your old marque, Onan? Their Homesite models appear to be quality American generators - I am sure it is just coincidental that they look like the rest of the Chinese imports. Of course, DuroPower must be helping the American economy tremendously with their mail order clearing house in California? Or perhaps we should just limit our purchases to big box stores like Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Home Depot? Now, those are fine American institutions that believe in the phrase "Made in America".

It is best to not become victim to the old adage my Mom used to quote to me, "Be careful that you do not overlook the trees when looking at the forest."

JC/Prof'

Yes, we all came to '3000w Chinese gensetS info' except Prof', as newbies, he started the thread. I have read all the posts on that thread for three years now. When some of the 'newbies' come, they are like me, a child with a 'new red wagon' (yellow and black Champion). Then the new wears off. Reality sets in. Some come to learn, others come with a agenda. Like the 'Generator Guy' He wanted us to know the Champion was to be chosen over the DuroPower and that the Champion was good for 3300 watts? Said he proved that fact. Then he skipped out. Many others have come like Tony F, hope he stays around long enough to learn a thing or two. He said he was into research. Maybe he too, now has tunnel vision? My thought, some folks like to put on the blinders, I do believe. They want to see only RED, BLUE, or even just YELLOW & BLACK. Blinders and tunnel vision, uh!

Now, all grown up we hopefully learn, all things are sometimes not as they seem. Age helps. We sometimes say, hmmmmm. Well all be darn. I didn't know that. I should have looked deeper. Checked out the story. Sometimes it takes a Tony F, along the way. Tony, stay around.

Now Champion. For me to stay interested, they could put up a real 'Home Page' Say like, Kipor.com. Add plenty of up to date claen power units. Light wieght, soft sound and priced just under the market. Is that maybe asking to much? Prof' told us long ago, Champion wanted to hear from us. Now waiting for the rest of the 'story'.
