NO Know connection between costco & backupgenerators.com
do you have any info do substantiate that 'claim' you just made ?
its been clearly stated, the $369 WAS an introductory OFFER
NOT the normal regular average price with a limited number to be sold and with a 'time limit' on the sale, the sale expired which ever was reached first, I do expect the $599 price will be less by July 2011, how much? "I don't know"

Was looking at the various Lifan models, noted the engine sizes, if I recall, the new Champion inverter is 79cc. I wonder what effects one might consider for the various size engines. Compare against the Honda 2000i at 98cc, Honeywell 2000i at 125cc, All Power APG3102 at 105cc, and the Lifan 2200 at 125cc (if I recall). Does a larger displacement imply a better consistent output under load increase?
Yamaha EF2000is has a 79cc engine. . .

Please tell me where! I'm looking to buy one and have not been able to find any price close to that!

there's a new competitor with Champion, Lifan. there's a thread, in the General RV forum, about their new lineup of electric-start, parallel-capable inverter generators, being sold thru Home Depot.
they look like the Magna brand i've seen on Ebay.
even the 2200w one has electric start and a pull-out handle and wheels.
Thanks... Just ordered from Home Depot the Lifan 2200 watt electric start. If possible plan on mounting it on under my Rig, behind the rear wheel between the body skirt and frame. If it doesn't fit I'll return it to my local Home Depot.

Hi Folks. I am a new poster but certainly not new to the forum. I am the CEO of Champion Power Equipment (CPE) which is based in Santa Fe Springs, CA.
Champion Power Equipment Inc (CPE) is a California corporation.
CPE is owned by Dennis Trine and Lei Zhoa.
The BBB in Colton, CA is not the Better Busines Bureau we all grew up with. The one here in California requires you to pay for your rating. It is un-American and I won't support them.
CPE directly employs 47 Americans, two with Purple Hearts. Indirectly, we employ well over 10,000 Americans that work in our network of service centers across the U.S.
Our JV (Joint Venture) factory in China is partially owned by myself and Mr. Zhao. All of the engineering, emission regulatory protocols, product development and management is done here in the U.S.A.
We are proud to be adding to the growing free market in China with workers that are the best paid in their county and class of trade. (Free trade is the birthplace of freedom and democracy and little Champ is making a mark in China with pride.)
Unfortunately, all portable power generators available in the U.S. today are manufactured in China. We visit regularly the Honda, Yamaha, Generac, Honeywell, Briggs and Stratton and other factories. I, for one, wish my little gens were made here in the U.S.A. For now, they can't be but we all should be glad that alternative portable power is affordable to the masses and the quality and after sales service is handled with pride and vigor by good, hard working Americans just like you.
Thanks for you time.

I guess that I will be looking for the UPS man sooner than later. I hope mine works, unlike class A wannabe.
Turns out the AVR (auto voltage regulator) was no good. Somehow it picks up a DC current off the brushes & controls the output AC. Did some tests over the phone with Jim from Champion's tech service (great guy), got a new one coming fed-ex tomorrow. Will post end results on that.
You guys should get your new ones soon. I'm in the same state & it took 5 days to get to my doorstep. Have fun with 'em!
I just noticed on Costco website, listed under shipping and other info' ~ Any online order my be returned to any of Costco 500 locations.
That is good news, to see it listed under the ad for Champion.
Don't have to be a do it yourself repair person. Then maybe void the Costco warranty. They say, just return it. If you really want one after the return, then just re-order. New warranty. If out of stock, maybe you have saved your $$$$$

McZippie,
Thought you should know. The Green machine looks great. New Chinese Inverters all over the place. Maybe even Champion will have the ES on their new Inverter coming next month? IIRC one poster found similar parts numbers in Champion and Lifan, if that means anything. And, I had a nice one hour read by clicking on your profile and then the posts. Thanks,
Floyd

Floyd, you have become a regular correspondent on this and other threads over the past few years. During that time your knowledge and understanding of not only generators, but electricity and the principles of sound generation and abatement have grown. You and I have shared much both on and off the thread. So, I hope you will not take it as a disparaging comment when I say that it often appears to me that you suffer from an ailment we often got caught up in when I was working on a project in graduate school that required doing research - "Tunnel Vision". It is easy to filter out what you don't want and accept only what you do, rather than looking at the larger picture and weighing each piece of information equally. I believe this is exactly what JC is commenting on with his "Manufactured in the USA" analogy.
Perhaps if you want a real "Made in America" generator you should consider a Briggs and Stratton. A well established AMERICAN company that builds everything right here in the good old USA with American labor. Or, perhaps your old marque, Onan? Their Homesite models appear to be quality American generators - I am sure it is just coincidental that they look like the rest of the Chinese imports. Of course, DuroPower must be helping the American economy tremendously with their mail order clearing house in California? Or perhaps we should just limit our purchases to big box stores like Lowe's, Wal-Mart and Home Depot? Now, those are fine American institutions that believe in the phrase "Made in America".
It is best to not become victim to the old adage my Mom used to quote to me, "Be careful that you do not overlook the trees when looking at the forest."
