Trail cams

Is anyone into trail cams? I have a Browning Dark Ops that takes great pictures, if it feels like it. I was about to delete a "false trigger" pic when I noticed the legs of a coyote behind a bush. Great, but mostly it wouldn't take a picture of a passing elephant. I feed them in front of the camera and I get nothing, maybe. Sometimes.... The amount of cameras available, even at the $50.00 range is confusing. This is my third camera and all have been junk. I want a IFR triggered unit, no white flash, not just motion so I don't get false triggers from the bushes in the yard. Any ideas ?? Thanks ..

I have a not so new moultrie. It does IR both still and video. Works good for the last few years.

I have a Moultrie. I've caught all type of interesting interlopers including a mother bear and cub sniffing around the camper. But, snow storms really play havoc with it. I'll have tons of pictures of falling snow.

Jerry, I've got the same problem with my game cams, they have never taken a picture of passing elephants. I have pictures of coyotes, bobcats, meth heads, neighbors cats, and wandering Chupacabra's. I have tried all the different settings, have you found a fix for this?

Maybe itโ€™s just because there arenโ€™t many wild elephants in your area.

How far away from your house do you want to set the camera?

I have the cheapest one Walmart sales and it takes great pics both night & day. I think it was $29 or so.

I use a - Browning Strike Force Pro XD BTC-5PXD - it misses NOTHING, never had a false trigger and it does a great job in the dark. I've even located my field mouse problem using this cam. I've had a couple of times I thought I might have a false triggered event, but on close inspection I've found the little critters moving in the underbrush.

That said, I haven't used it for anything but video, set for the highest definition. I can always do a screen grab from a paused video if I need a static pic.

I've used other trailcams that were less than stellar, but this one works, and has become my go-to cam.
