Urgent! Propane Alarm sounding

Had propane turned on for days.. no issues..
Wife just now cleaning the interior with Pinesol and vacuum, and Propane Alarm is going off. Can the vapors from cleaners set it off or only propane?

Found it contains two forms of Alcohol

Alcohol vapors are explosive and since the proper name of the Propane Detector is "Explosive Gas Detector" yes they will set it off.

how explosive are there... Trust me you do not want to know.. I do, but it was pure wood alcohol, used to fuel a space heater, that blew up in my fact, not the diluted formulation Pinesol uses.

(Thank heavens there was a handy snow bank to roll around in or the burns would have been much, much, worse).

But the bottom line is yes,, Pinsol acn indeed set it off.

I think you will have a tough time finding a battery operated propane alarm. You can buy a hard wired one from Camping World for a little over $50.

My alarm says it is worn out after 5 yrs. If I bought another like it to replace it, it would cost $130.00. I can buy a battery propane and co2 alarm for a lot less money. My question? Would you replace yours with a battery model or with the wired in model? My house alarms are battery and they work just fine.

Propane alarms tend to get a bit oversensitive with age. Might need to be replaced.

Aired Out, reset sensor... seems OK... has not re sounded !!! thanks... Wife is much less concerned now. We will watch during cleaning as to what agents are present

Short answer is Yes. Ours goes off everytime I winterize and pour RV antifreeze into the P traps. Has done this for 3 years. Just air it out and it'll go back to acting normal.

I am sure that there are even more common chemicals that can set a propane detector off.

Add smelly feet/socks to your list.

Grandson put his feet next to the detector and within a few secs.. set it off.
