Hi,

An interesting concept! A recirculating shower that filters the water.

Referred to as "the hour shower".

Your thread title reminded me of the song Waterproof by Sparks. "Water, water everywhere, but not a drop on me"

Itโ€™s is a simple solution to a Boondockers dilema!

The folks who must have a shower every day may be the reason that our planet is becoming more and more polluted!

If you grew up in the 19 thirties, fourties and the early fifties , there were no Daily Showers ,as a matter of fact in some households a weekly Bath for a family often involved taking turns using the Galvanized Tub by the Kitchen Stove sufficed!

I canโ€™t recall anyone dying from having a bath! Of course we did not drink the water and nobody brushed their teeth while having a Bath!

Obviously Iโ€™m one of the survivors!

Not sure if this is better or worse than just taking a bath.

I guess it's a bit cleaner as the water circulates through the filter. But then again there's the dilution factor as the bathtub will have much more water in it to dilute the contaminants. So which is better is up for debate.

In any case I think you would want to change the filter after every shower.

I think I'll just stick to my old school ways of using fresh water to take a shower.

Good idea, but I am looking at that filter and thinking one shower gets one palmfull of shampoo and equal amount of soap that will go directly into that filter. How much soap can that filter hold? or does the soap just run through?

Does the filter need to be back flushed every time?

Sounds like the shower water gets used once, then permanently disposed of into the gray tank, so at least it should be bacteria free. I would not want water out of the gray tank, ever.

Those filters are meant for micro things that are not visible, to filter large quantities of soap and body dirt is not what they are intended for. I am skeptical.

No thanks. I will stick with increasing conservation and capacity.

Might be cool for offroaders. Just to rinse off dust. Or to rinse off a dog. Seems like more and more kids are trying to live inside vans these days where fresh water is minimal.

LOL I just got the video to play. All that filter is, is a plain ole RV water filter. Here is the specs of that filter.

GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filtration greatly reduces bad taste, odor, chlorine, and sediment.

This will NOT filter out bacteria.

It will just make your body bacteria taste better and not smell! :B

Would have to be pretty powerful filter in that thing to be able to filter out bacteria and viral stuff. Nope I don't think I would use it!

Does that filter filter out the soap and shampoo? Might be hard to rinse off.

It works now. Don't work for me (recycle shower). I find that a bit extreme.

Hi,

I've redone the link--it seems to work for me. Can someone confirm it is now working? Thanks in advance.

I think I'd be tempted to put the filter before the pump, not after.

I'd probably add a 12 volt immersion heater, too.

As I said--not to drink!

Yuck!

I'll stick with big tanks to keep me in water when I boondock.

I carried 200 gallons of fresh water in my Eagle. That was good for three weeks if we were careful.

I didn't have any trouble linking to it. The OP's link is the one in my following post. Doesn't have anything to do with U-Tube, just improperly done by the OP.
