Wet carpet and floor

I don't know why I cannot insert this picture, but you can click on the link and see it. Anyway, we traveled about 6 hours yesterday in the rain. When we opened the slides, we noticed the linoleum floor under the slide on the right side (passenger side) was wet and the carpet was soaking wet. See the circled area on the pic. This is the leading end of the slide and the wet carpet is about 5 feet back from the front of the slide.

I don't see any obvious damage or wear on any seals and it looks like the slide goes in all the way.
Anyone else have this happen and did you find the cause?

Day light outside and dark inside was all we needed to see light under the slide. Good luck.

With your slide in, look for light under the slide from the inside. I lost a piece of seal off the bottom of my slide and it caused floor damage. The shop found the problem by laying on the floor and looking between the slide and the floor. It was letting road spray into the camper.

Thanks. In 2 days, I'll be in Chesapeake where my two sons live. I can get one of them to shine a bright light under the slide while I look under it.

Slide rides up and over floor when retracted.

Bottom edge of slide out needs to 'seal' against frame of trailer when retracted.

Tires throw water UP when driving in rain. Rain gets in thru bottom edge of slide out if seal is missing/out of position/damaged

Open slide out.crawl underneath and inspect seal/sealing area.
Have someone close slide out while underneath and check how it seals up.

Yup. yup. I did all of that. I did find a lot of dirt on the seal at the bottom and cleaned it real good. It was a lot of grit and sand. Now, I have to travel on a rainy day to see if it still leaks!

DutchmenSport, I'm real suspicious of the water coming in from the bottom or front seal on the slide too. There was no signs of leakage on the ceiling or walls. I think the water perhaps sprayed in from the water on the tires and got on the linoleum. The area where the carpet was wet probably absorbed the water from the puddle on the linoleum. Maybe I need to leave DW in there to watch for leaks the next time it is raining! LOL! Good thing she never reads this forum!

If you cannot find any obvious intrusion from the roof down, how about from the floor up. That may sound ***f*r*e*e*k*y*** but is it possible the wet spot came up through the floor? You know water splashing up from the road? You said it was raining.

I had a very strange event happen to my Outback. Don't know when it happened, but the slide out closet in the bed room had water on the bottom. Clothes were wet at the bottom where they touched the carpeted bottom. No clue when or how or where that happened. Dried it out, and we've never a wet spot in there again. I'm beginning to think my wife might have put a cup of liquid in there and it spilled when traveling, who knows. Sometimes things just happen?

How about the refrigerator? Did it drain inside the camper? Stranger things have happened. I thought of this possibility when our floors occasionally get wet because we forget to dump out the dog water bowl when on the road! These are just some ideas to think about .... beyond the roof! One more thought, where is the air-conditioner located with respect to the wet spot? It's possible condensation may have dripped on the floor.

If you figure it out, let us know. Inquiring minds want to know! Good luck in your search.

You could try using a hose and shooting water around the slideout and nearby windows. Have someone stay inside the trailer to look for where the water starts to enter. If you cannot find the problem, take it to a good rv service shop and see if they can help. It very well could be a problem somewhere around the slideout seal.
