What is the "galley" gauge on my monitor panel?

I just bought a 2001 10.5' Forest River Real-Lite Truck camper. The monitor panel has light for 'battery', 'fresh', 'galley', 'bath/shower', and 'black'. I'm used to just seeing fresh, grey, and black for the tanks. What is the "galley" light? Do I have two grey tanks? I only have two valve in my waste tank drain compartment.

I agree. In fact, we don't use our toilet for number two, so our grey water is often way worse. I am going to move the "how do I empty it" question over to the Truck Camper forum. Thanks

Just to clarify though, true GRAY water doesn't contain any organics and the galley tank contains quite a bit of organic material thus it's not labeled gray it's a galley tank. It is often ALMOST as stinky as the black tank so NEVER dump it where you care what the area smells like. ๐Ÿ™‚

Do I have the ability to choose which tank the sink goes into? How I empty it? I've never seen this before.

Yep, you have a grey tank just for your kitchen sink - a nice feature as long as it doesn't have a separate drain.

Must be complicated in a slide-in camper sized rig, with the galley tank quite small. Our 5er has a galley tank that is half the size of the other tanks, so it always fills first unless we take steps. An even smaller tank would be even more annoying.

Taking those steps is a PITA (wash dishes in a sink insert, dump the insert into one of the other tanks eg), but yes must be even worse with rigs that have two sani dump terminals.

Some people do some plumbing to get around that so the two grey tanks share. It depends on your camping lifestyle which tank fills first and what you are willing to do about it.

BTW the galley tank monitor is likely to give false readings of being more full than it is, due to food etc getting on the sensors. You can get a true reading from when the water won't go down the sink drain anymore ๐Ÿ™‚ If it is a PITA do dump that tank when the others don't need it, ignore the monitor until the sink backs up so you don't do extra work not needed yet.

Yes, our drain is plumbed into the one sewer hose connection. To have separate SH connections would be a pain.
We never fill our galley tank. It's 20 gallons and the other grey is 40 so that kind of give us a total of 60 which has served us well.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.
