06 Ram Sold-Now What??

Your thoughts on a 2013 Denali 3500 SRW 35miles,55k,2014 Ram Laramie loaded 370/800 new 65k, 2015 ford 350 lariat loaded,new 61k.Do like the Ram,but tough on price.Ford seems like the best value now ,nice truck.Will be pulling a 15 k fiver with 3000 lbs of pin,hope to be LEGAL.

Not sure what he paid, but he got invoice pricing. Talk to the sales guy to see if you qualify for a "control number". Depending on where you work. Chysler offers invoice pricing to many groups.

IB how much $$, im a little nervous on the ford,nice truck, drives very snappy,lots of guys happy with them.Ford seems like the only one that wants to deal,62k for a 15 vs 65/66k for a 14 laramie.

A buddy of mine just bought a 2014 3500 srw. It is a crew cab 4x4 short bed Laramie trim (leather etc.). Payload is just under 4000#.

It has the 370/800 Cummins and the 68RFE trans. Gvwr is 11700#, so the curb weight is ~7700#. Makes sense because mine is a twin to his, but gas powered and it weighs 7000#, with a GVWR of 10000#, and just over 3000# payload.

i'm somewhat bias to Ford because my local dealer is great and I've had good luck with them but honestly you can't really go wrong with any of the three you listed as long as the specs meet your needs. Drive them all and make a decision on which one feels best.

I know everytime I pull a mountain pass with my trailer in tow I get an ear to ear smile hearing that 6.7 make quick work of the hill. I'd think the others aren't too much different.

My payload is 3400 lbs although when camping I load up about 750 lbs of passengers so I would only have about 2650 for pin weight. If you work out your speed range in the various gears you will to see why the manufacturers choose the axle they do for the tow rating they make. If you are only towing a 15000 lb trailer my guess is that Ram recommends a 3.42 rear axle ratio ....go with what they recommend. Ford gives you a choice of 3.55 or 3.36 in the srw and they put a 3.73 axle in the dually. If you want the larger, 20 inch wheels on the SRW you automatically get the 3.55 gears. In my opinion GM and Ram have pretty much caught up to Ford....I'd buy the Ford for the tow mirrors and the incredibly quiet cab. I'd like to know if one of the trucks does better on fuel than the others? The way I use my truck I burn 18.5 liters per 100km. So in 300,000 km I will have spent about $67,000 on fuel.....saving 10% on fuel is significant.

I just bought a 2014 Ram Aisin dually Laramie for $1000 UNDER invoice plus $3000 factory rebate. It can be done pretty easy right now!

Door sticker payload wasn't anything but a paper limit on the 06. The frame was the same as the DRW, as where the axles, brakes, and basic suspension (7% stiffer springs on the DRW).

The frame had a 12,200 limit, and the rear axle was over 10K. You only real limit was OE wheels and tries at 6,390 lbs for the rear axle.

The new trucks do have higher sticker payloads, but the biggest place you actually gain is the 7000lb RAWR. Yes the FAWR is higher but it's very hard to use it, short of a snow plow.

The different in RAWR, based on OEM 18" wheels vs 17's on the 06, is going to be the only real increase you gain.

If the door sticker is important to you then yes you can gain SRW payload. A comparable 2014 Ram 3500 SRW has 2400lbs more GVWR for about 2000-2200lbs more actual payload based on added base weight.

80000 MSRP ,Free cummins etc ,so 10500 off,then i mentioned the Ford ,says they are dumping them here to get back market share.Rams price is 1800 over invoice,if they matched the ford ,i would look hard The Dmax is a real nice truck for 50k.

You will only gain ~600 lbs of payload with OEM wheels and tires on any of the 3 SRWs. Is that enough?

My 06 3500 SRW handled that fiver over 50000 miles, no issues at all,looked and ran like new with 85000 miles,Mint cond ,sold in a couple of days for 27k,best vehicle i have Ever owned.Need more payload.

Yes talked to Dave smith , they had a 13 laramie Longhorn 52k used 7500 miles ,i can import without duty but no Warranty, Thats a Biggy!!
