100,000 mile report

Ok, my 06 LBZ truck just turned 100,000 miles and I want to make a report of the good, the bad, and the ugly. About 25% of those miles were towing.

It always makes me chuckle when people say "I have 20,000 miles on my truck and it's been a great truck."
Well hell, I hope so! It's a brand new truck!

Anyway, here we go.

Engine:
10 oil changes
6 fuel filter changes
2 new glow plugs
2 Air filters
1 set batteries (2)
That's it for the engine.

Other things:

2 sets of tires (factory + 2 sets I put on.)
4 shocks at 50K
4 steering boxes (Don't ask; it did not need any):M
1 set of engine oil cooler hoses.
4 burnt out lights in the steering wheel buttons
1 Steering column bearing
1 intermediate steering shaft

That's pretty much it. Pretty good for 100,000 miles. As far as I'm concerned it won't be a good truck until I get 200,000 with no drive train repairs. Then and only then I will say it is a good truck. 🙂

I really like towing with this truck but don't like driving it solo. All in all, I like my truck. 🙂

Sold my 08 LTZ 185,000 (125,000 towint) oil and filters as required by drivers display system. 1 trans filter and one fluid change.
Currently 2015 LTZ 1 recall for DEF, 1 trans filter 58000 miles (36,000 towing)
100,000 mile on an 06' you must use it as a lawn ornament, LOL
2015 GMC D/A, CC 4x4/ Z71 ,3.73,IBC SLT+
2018 Jayco 338RETS
2 Trek bikes

It must be time to go, the suns out and I've got a full tank of diesel!
We have a granite fireplace hearth! Love to be a little different.

I agree 100%! GM has been putting bogus hoses on their trucks for over 25 years that I know of. At least it wasn't a head gasket or HPFP! :B

WNYBob: Without writing a book. The steering got hard and weird around 50K (warrantee.) Took it to a dealer and they said it was a box. They put box #1 on. Didn't fix it. I took it back about 6 months later and said fix it. They put box #2 on. Didn't fix it. I told them it was the pump. Box #3 went on. They put the wrong box on. It was clocked about 120 degrees out. I needed my truck so they let my truck go out the door clocked wrong. I told them to stop putting good boxes on my truck and replace the pump. They said "I" didn't know what I was talking about. Grrrrr..........box #4 goes on to fix the clocking issue. Box #4 is still on there to this day. Steering is still not right. I will put a new pump on when I get some time. This will fix the problem for good. 🙂

That's the norm for that body style GM. Just like the water pump and steering on the third gen Rams and engines in the Fords. He has had pretty good service out of it in my book.

I traded my 05 Cummins at 100,000.

1. Two sensors
2. AC recharge
3. Tires replaced once
4. Transmission routine service
5. Normal oil change services
6. Fluid replacement in differentials twice
