2018 F350 Factory 5th Wheel Prewire Bed Plug - 12v Frig?

We ordered out 2018 F-350 with the 5th wheel prep package which includes the bed electrical plug. Does anyone know if that plug have the amp capacity to run a 12v Dometic frig?

Thanks for any help,
Brad

I take it you're looking at another truck camper. I don't think you can get a 3 way fridge in TTs or 5vers. Not sure about this, but I wish they did.

Haven't looked at them in years, but those Lance campers used to be the top-of-the-line. Always loved them.

Just have to look at the amp rating of both. But wouldn't you have to cut off the batteries to the fridge and the 12V to the camper batteries to do that?
In other words it might be less effort to run a dedicated line to the fridge circuit with a cutoff to the house batteries if you want to run fridge off of truck but you'd be constantly switching manually either way.

I don't think My transfer pump will draw 30 amps .... Probably 20 amps on 12 volt.

I think that frig can draw about 30 amps on 12v, but I'm not sure.

Hopefully if we get a new camper, I can run the frig on propane while traveling without the pilot blowing out.

Thanks,

Yes it does, but the pilot blows out at highway speeds. I tried a number of things to fix that when it was new, but never figured out a good fix and finally gave up.

We may be about to order a new camper and I'm wondering if it even makes since to get the 3-way frig again unless I'm going to run an 8 gage wire to the truck battery.

Thanks,
Brad

The plug will handle the amperage. The wires leading to the plug and the wires in your FW are likely too small to handle the current without significant voltage drop. You may find yourself arriving at your destination with partially discharged batteries. This is fine if you are going to plug in but really bad if camping without hook ups.

That's my situation now in our current truck. After about 4-5 hrs of driving with the 12v fridge on, the single camper battery is close to dead. I was hoping the factory 5th wheel bed plug might have a bigger wire than our current truck.

Once we get hooks ups, we switch to 120v.

Thanks,
Brad
