2020 GM 2500HD Dead Weight Hitch Tongue only 500 lbs ?

Where can I find the 2020 GM 2500HD Dead Weight Hitch - Max Tongue Wt specification ? (Not for a Weight Distributing Hitch)
I can Not seem to find it on the General Motor website.

Is it really only 500 lbs ?

Without getting OCD about it, you still have zero to worry about with your trailer. Not even close to maxing out the hitch.
Just don't be cheap and use the 2" adapter sleeve, get a 2.5" hitch shank. It won't end well in the long run.

They EACH have their own ratings

Balls will have their rating stamped on the flat spot on top...that flat spot is to allow the ball to back out of the coupler dome

Shanks or Draw Bars have their own ratings and is either stamped or labeled

Wnote that balls have very high torque requirements. My 2 5/16" dia ball requires 50p ft/lbs, IIRC...

I had thought that the reason for the larger 2 1/2" sleeve was to handle a heavier trailer. Mine (2015 Silverado 2500) says 1500lb tongue weight with 13000 lb trailer max. No comment of weight distribution hitch. This label is on the bottom of the hitch - facing the ground.

My 18 dually has a sticker on the underside of the hitch. Had to get on my back to get a look at it. 2000lbs.

Some images off the Internet of tow receiver ratings label...they are normally on the cross tube...sometimes on the end flange, but they are there

Typically, the OEM of the TV purchases and/or orders the receivers from a 3rd party. The labels are for the receiver as a component. The TV may or may NOT have the same rating for dead weight (weight carry) or WD tongue weight

I just looked at 2020 Silverado 1500, I think, in a parking nearby and, what do you know, I did not see a label on the hitch.

I again reread 2020-chevrolet-silverado-owners-manual.pdf

Page 291:
"The Maximum Trailer Tongue Weight Rating for a conventional trailer hitch is shown on the Trailering Information Label. Do not exceed a maximum trailer tongue weight of 567 kg (1,250 lb) for a conventional trailer hitch."

No Comment on that number.

Page 293:
"Many trailers can be towed using a weight-carrying hitch....
Other trailers may require a weight-distributing hitch...."

Page 294:
Weight-Distributing Hitch Usage - 2500/3500 "Not Required"

Then Page 295 has how to use a weight distribution hitch by measuring and adjusting the height of the front and rear wheel wells.

I am starting to get used to how they are doing things now.

General class V is rated 1200/12000 weight carrying and 1700/17000 wd. So that’s the “worst” it could be rated.
Real world we pull 16klb loaded flat decks everywhere with everything on them. Usually not a lack of tongue weight either.
You don’t have to worry about any bumper pull RV behind it.

I don't think all of them make that distinction. I'm pretty sure my Ram is rated for 1800 lbs, WDH or not.
