Purchased a 305v16 and some of the conditions of the final purchase are me test towing and taking it to get it weighed.

Question i have is my tow vehicle is a 1 ton dodge ram 2007. It isnt lifted in the rear, but with the 35" tires on it, am i going to have issues with clearance between the 5th wheel and the bed???

Anyone who is interested. 34" tires with 2" rear lift. I had a ton of room.

I've got 35's and a 3-inch Carli lift (most of the lift is in the front, rear went up about an inch).

Every toy hauler that I looked at would fit, though you may have to monkey with the hitch height and pinbox a bit.

My Cyclone 3950 has adjustable shackles, I raised them to their highest point just so I could get a bit more bed clearance. I've got about 6 inches of bed clearance now, so no worries about towing over rough terrain.

Good to hear.

Unless you've added a lot of extra power, with those 35's I think gearing is going to be your problem. If 5.9 auto then you may not get out of 3rd very often.

I went to 32" tires and notice a big difference. I have about 100 more HP and that allows me to use OD.

x2 getting the 5'er level with 6" of clearance would be the least of concerns. I think unless the OP has chipped the crude out of that 5.9 then it's going to feel like the 5'er brakes are on all the time.
Maybe time for a re-gear on the Dodge.

It's the 6.7. It is completely deleted and chipped. I tow 11k now like it isn't there. This trailer should be 15k loaded.

I went to see the trailer and did some measurements. I should be good height wise.

I did a pretty thorough inspection on the 2013 xlr and the frame is so rusted.
I passed on that and am looking at the 2014 now.

I'm not expert on here like many - but I know we couldn't 'easily' get a mid-level 5th wheel to fit my truck 'right', and it's a 2500 w/ 35's... I thought mine was 57.5-58"...

Do you have clearance on the trailer to add tires say 1-2" larger in diam? or the ability to do a spring over axle lift on the trailer, this adds about 5" to the trailer height.....altho a lot of 5w's show up from the factory with the springs over the axel to begin with, especially slide rigs.....

Another option, is new springs on the trailer with a 1-2" built in taller arch, or heavier springs. I went from 3500 to 4000 lbs springs on my old TT, and gained about an inch more clearance over stock, 2" over the original ones that were spent and ready to break......

Did the same on an equipment trailer going from 5200 lb springs to 6K springs.

Depends on the 5er, did you measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of the 5er, and the distance between the ground and the top of your bed rail???

It is really just some simple math, if that looks good about 6", then the current height of the hitch plate and the bottom of the pin plate. those should be about the same, with the 5er sitting near level.

I didnt have a level, but the 5ht wheel was at 63" and my truck bed is at 57". Tomorrow im going out and bringing my level and getting the rv level and then remeasuring... Im approved on this particular rv depending on final inspection and a test tow with measurnents.

6" is the minimum recommend clearance between rv and truck bed???
