After thirteen years, we sold the travel trailer tonight...

It’s been fun folks. I joined Trailer Life Forum when I was looking to buy a travel trailer back in 2001, asked for my share of advice and gave some as well.

Tonight my daughter cried on the phone when I told her I sold it. Along with a lot of folks around here, we raised our daughter in that trailer. We purchased it when she was in 1st grade and now she is a sophomore in college. We successfully nursed my wife back from two cancer surgeries by getting her to relax at the beach for several weeks. We even discovered it was better than a hotel when heading to Las Vegas.

I purchased the Hensley-Arrow based partly on what I learned on this forum. And I used the Hensley-Arrow to seal the deal today. I believe the Hensley-Arrow saved my family’s life back in June of 2007 when we got caught in a heavy wind storm on Highway 6 heading north from Delta, Utah to Provo. Just kept sipping my coffee and heading down the road as the semi-trucks passed us by.

Back in 2009 I tapped the top of my receiver hitch and inserted a grease zerk to more easily lubricate the ball with removing the entire Hensley-Arrow hitch. Opinions around here ranged from ‘your receiver will fracture’ to ‘genius idea.’ I promised to report back – so here is the final update. It was a genius idea. After five years of RVing up and down the West coast, not one problem. The welder I sold my rig to thought it was a great idea too.

We are not leaving RVing, I see a Montana 3150RL 5th wheel in my future. Then I will have to figure out how to change my sig….

Hope it won't be too long before you get to start the next chapter!

Great story.. Best of luck to you all.

I cried when my father sold our Motorhome after 7 years. I was 8 and sold when I was 15. He even has a picture of me sitting at the dinette weeping. My kids are still young (7 and 10), but I know they love camping and have great memories and more to come! What a feeling knowing that your 20 year old (just guessing her age) had such great memories of family and camping and could appreciate at that age!

Tonight is the last night in our rig. Move into the new one tomorrow. It is more than just a trailer... going through the trials and tribulations makes it family. I get what you are saying; bittersweet.

So many good memories in a rig like that - no wonder it's emotional letting it go.
Here's to hoping you make many more great memories in your next RV.
