America’s Wildflowers, On the Road in a Truck Camper Pt 2

In honor of the First Day of Spring, I thought I would return to posting my thread of America’s Wildflowers on the Road in a Truck Camper. The last time we did this was more than 2 years ago so it is long overdue. At least for those of us that search out and enjoy the wildflowers in this grand country we live in.

Hopefully many of you will find this as a challenge to post here too! Your discoveries and your favorite flowers you see and enjoy while traveling in your truck Campers. The rules? There is only one, please keep the flowers you post here ones that are not in a yard or any formal flower garden. Yes, a wildflower bed would be fine, but not one you found in the flower section of the Home Depot.

Ahh, yes, for those two that mentioned that this was not TC content, before, understand that we are enjoying these wildflowers as much as you enjoy the museums, the fishing pictures, boat pictures and an occasional horse shows. Because I enjoy all those, as well.

Please post your favorite Wildflower pictures here too!!!

But, for Truck Camper content, I will open with one I captured on a past photography hunt, with a good buddy that brought his own camera along, too.

Desert Five-Spot Ermalche rotundifolia

Claret-Cup Cactus Echinocereus triglochidiatus

Saguaro Cactus Carnegiea gigantea

Prairie Wild Rose Rosa arkansaa

Dune Evening Primrose ~ Oenothera californica eurekens

Sunflower Helianthus annuus

Canadian Thistle Cirsium arvense

Those that know me know that I have hundreds of Wildflowers to post. But, how about some of you post some of your favorite wildflower photos too. Just a change in how we post here. Like my previous wildflowers thread, surprise me!

Yeah, the picture wasn't that good to begin with so I cheated. I'm still not sure what I think about it. Poppies do pop though. That was two weeks ago now, you know what it's like, you were there last year.

Just spectacular, Whazoo!

Those flowers just pop right out of that picture, they're so brilliant!

Good idea to not hijack the thread. For photo info, try http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/15775751.cfm

For the scale tricks, try carrying a coin in your camera case. That way, it will be there when you need it.

Great idea. :B

Great photos. The bar has been set high so I need to do some work while trying to get more for myself. I never thought (or forgot if I did) about using a .22 case, penny etc to show size comparison. So many of the ones I have photographed are very tiny flowers. I'll have to try to remember the trick.
Not trying to hijack the thread but what site is best (most economical) for hosting the pictures?

Don't know what those berries are Joerg, but they don't look like something I'd want to eat.

That truck camper looks dodgy too - probably some trouble-maker biker type :W

That one took some looking: DVNP website plant list, Calflora, Google images. Here is my best shot at it.

Allenrolfea occidentalis, AKA iodine bush or pickleweed

joerg68:

Those berries look like a desert evergreen berry of some kind (like juniper berries, but not juniper berries)...perhaps a cedar berry?

Thank you for posting the link. It says the post is closed. I was able to get to see some of the pictures thanks.

This is something to beware of if you want to modify your existing posts such as trip reports - after a period of time those posts become closed automatically by the site software, so cannot be commented on or edited by the OP. So if you have new information you want to add to an old post, you have no choice but to start a new post.

Just what do you base this statement on? I question you having a clue as to why the thread is closed. I think it is a troll flaming statement. If you can offer something to support your comment, I would like to see it.
